TennZip
I can't figure out to copy and paste any more so I will try to type in addresshttp://www.ncaa.com/rankings/soccer-men/d1/ncaa-mens-soccer-rpi
skip-zip
That's great news. Technically (unless we end up getting screwed again), this would get us Home Games all the way until the national semifinal if we can hold such a ranking, correct? TennZip
That's great news. Technically (unless we end up getting screwed again), this would get us Home Games all the way until the national semifinal if we can hold such a ranking, correct? If this holds, Akron would host the round of 32, the round of 16....and then have to play one of the top 4 teams on the road in the quarterfinals. You will notice that this week's opponents...Penn State and UAB are not in the top 60 for RPI. Santa Clara is #36 in the RPI.It is a long season. I would expect that Maryland and Georgetown will be much higher in the RPI by the end of the season and this will help the zips
Dave in Green
Once again conference games will drag down the Zips' RPI. Second best MAC RPI is NIU at #52. Mighty BGSU and WMU are #78 and #89, with WVU further down at #128 and UB a lowly #192.
skip-zip
Sorry TennZip......I meant quarterfinals, not semifinals. But, thanks for the detailed explanation.Dave, not only will the conference games drag down the RPI, but our conference affiliation alone will cause the committee to penalize us again at selection time, like always. If today was the end of the season, they'd probably put us somewhere around #14 or something.
SwitchIt
If you have not seen it and want the nuts and bolts Gaucho Dan has it all down. His RPI blog for Akron http://rpiupdatemenssoccer.blogspot.com/2015/08/akron-2015.htmlHis RPI with SOS and OSS, very tight to just released official NCAA.Big Soccer thread http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/gauchodans-2015-rpi.2024052/Minor differences are attributed to entry errors buy GD or NCAA for that matter, and the bonus/penalty affects, which I think are 1-25, 26-50 etc ranked opponent wins and losses but I am not sure, they look past whatever they want to at tourney time anyway. An interesting stat might be to look at how closely (or much error) there is in the NSCAA coaches poll to the average of the rest (rags and writers) and its predictive quality to NCAA seeding to the rest plus RPI.?, can anyone remember an easier ride and retention of a #1 ranking than Creighton's this year and what appears to be a soft Big East less GTown conference in front of them. Their non conf schedule is pretty cupcake and a 1-0 early win versus a depleted Michigan might be the highlight with Tulsa or MSU second toughest? Not wanting to take too much away from a team that seems to play good overall soccer, especially on their pitch, but 69th toughest schedule in the country is not that hard to get through, I'm just saying....
