kreed5120
The WSJ published an article regarding a study that was completed that valued 175 college basketball teams value. Akron came in 104th at a $14.3 million valuation narrowing edging out OU, who finished 105th, for best in that MAC. The 2015 valuation was a 36.7% boost over the 2014 valuation. That was the 11th highest % invoice. http://www.wsj.com/articles/how-much-is-your-college-basketball-team-worth-1459459516
blueandgold
Two things: 1. I can't believe Dayton is so high ranked #24! 2. Kent is near the bottom at #170!

I'm not entirely surprised because I've been there. Very loyal following, and they don't give a damn about the Suckeyes, who are only an hour away. And notably, Dayton is a smaller city than Akron. Sad. That's why I felt so strongly that a potential win over the Suckeyes a few weeks ago could have really left an impression of some of the people who live in Akron who bandwagon with them, and disregard Akron as some insignificant entity. Since there's over 350 D-I basketball teams, I have to wonder about any kind of ranking that has #170 as "near the bottom".
Balsy
The WSJ is garbage. Case and point: Kent is ranked #170, when it clearly shouldn't even be on the list at all.
BirdZip
Dayton has the benefit of being consistently relevant, at least recently. Season ending RPI the last three years is 42-32-21. Taking average RPI over those three years, they rank 21st out of all D1 schools (avg = 31.7).

But the people in Dayton could very easily Bandwagon with the "larger" programs in the State, and they don't. Cincinnati and OSWho are very close, and they also both play major football.
