Sergeant Zip Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 I want to have a little fun here:The problem is that we hold on to our "loyalties" and overlook "reality" - In reference to Chuck Frye's play, just to keep it in the right context. (see link:http://zipsnation.org/index.php?showtopic=3493)I know I went way back for this post but it stuck with me. I am interested to see how msopher evaluates Bruce after week 5. I know he is a "rook" playing on an 0-3 team, he was the first Toledo QB draft pick in 30 years (Gene Swick in 1976 (fourth round-Cleveland Browns)), and has attempted 6 passes in his young NFL career, but we will find out the reality of the situation soon. Good thing for him he has a bye this coming week. I wouldn't be suprised if Rattay takes over the starting job just because of the experience factor. Honestly, I don't know how Bruce played in the preseason, he may have been lights out or he could have looked like he was playing with the lights out. I don't know but we'll see for sure on 10/8. Gruden is a smart coach, I'm sure they will have a solid game plan. I always root for MAC players, except when they play the Brownies. I hope he succeeds and Simms never takes back the starting job. Point taken, but that would me I couldn't like Cribbs than because he played for the Golden flushes. Even though Ben seems like an idiot, if he succeeds the MAC succeeds and the MAC builds a reputation. Quote
msopher Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 Honestly, I never thought Bruce would make it this far up in such a small amount of time. A 6th round pick shouldn't be starting in week 5. That is really unheard of in the NFL. I expect him to struggle throughout the game and perhaps the next few thereafter, but I believe that he has the tools to be a successful NFL QB, not necessarily a Pro Bowler. I hope he succeeds as does Charlie Fyre, who has shown signs of greatness, but is playing behind such a bad offensive line that we will never get a firm grasp of his capabilities until someone in Cleveland finally gets their head out of their a$$ and realizes that you can't win squat without some stability in the trenches. (my Browns rant for the day ) Quote
