Buckzip
JD will be here for a while. He has gotten out coached for the second straight game.Or maybe that's the bad news. J/K
zipsbandman
If he keeps this up it's going to be bad news. This cannot continue.
fear the brown roo
some of the players look like they have no concept of basic football, like playing until the whistle blows or how to catch a pass, or make a tackle, or throw a block. JD is my man but i wondered when watching this game just how well coached some of these players are. too many stupid mistakes and penalties. i'm not too fond of a lot of the play calling, but what do i know? Buckzip
I have been concerned about player development too. It seems we get some good players and they either don't get better, or they actually regress.I thought this last year too. it isn't something new. Look at guys like Crouch, Getsy, Arthur, Reid, Corner, it seems like they were pretty good when they were younger, but haven't gotten any better. AZipsCrazy
OUTCOACHED!?!?!?! Watch the game and analyze what happened and you realize that it was ALL about execution. Our Defense has to play harder and make more plays, especially in the secondary. They laid back and played lazy all day. Poor tackling and coverage with the occaisional bone-head play equals the piss poor pass defense we had today.Luke needs to keep both hands on the damn ball, and quit patting it in the pocket, that is what causes fumbles when you get sacked. To fumble twice against your archrival is pathetic. Luke has proven one thing, he is consistently inconsistent. He is definitely not going to be drafted like many of us predicted. I expected him to come out and play the way he did in the MAC Championship game, but he continues to be below average. The running game was shut-down IMO because we couldn't pass. We are a Mid-Major team w/o the best line in the world and to take the pressure off the line you have to pass to open up the run, which is the opposite of the big schools strategy. It's worked for all the good mid-majors (i.e. Utah, Boise State, etc.). I'm not really worried about the running game.I felt like the team came out expecting to win. The players need to check themselves... They got lucky even getting to the MAC championship game last year, and got beat pretty handily until the 4th quarter in the MCB. They ARE NOT THAT GOOD. They need to realize they have great "ability" but with out hard work that "ability" is just going to waste. They shouldn't have gotten cocky about winning the MAC last year, they need to realize that they're close to being good. They have A super talented game breaker David Harvey and that's about it. Buckzip
Yes, outcoached.Every single thing you mentioned is atrtributed to coaching. It is the coaches job to have his team mentally and physically prepared to play the game. Akron wasn't either today.I am in no way being critical of JD. I think he is the right guy to be here. I jsut feel he is responsible for some of the problems we have had.
Z-Pouch
Agree. Outcoached by Martin. Better game plan and his players were ready to play in a big game. Zips just didn't show a up and Can't wanted it more.
Ryno aka Menace
I disagree I am not gonna say outcoached....Do you honestly think JD has told them to chill out on the holding...yet we still had way to many holding calls....Both Jabari and the TE's dropped passes....Getsy started throwing to Harvey wven when he was double covered....WE DIDN"T LOSE THIS BAD TO PENN STATE!!! This falls squarely on the players in my opinion.

I agree with you, AZipsCrazy. The Zips looked to me like they thought that all they had to do was show up and someone would give them the game. Not playing until the whistle blows is absolutely incredibly stupid.
