Harvey has earned that spot on the list. He is one of the few people on the team who shows up for EVERY game, and not just the ones where he feels like it. Congrats to Delone Carter. I went to high school with him as a freshman, before he transfered. Looks like everything worked out alright for him. What does that make, 5 super Running Backs form Akron High Schools? Delone Carter, Tyrell Sutton, Tony Sutton, Chris Wells, and Antonio Pittman. The University of Akron needs to realise all of the talant right here in the city that they could recruit. Tony Sutton went to the College of Wooster (D-III) because noone wanted him on their team and he ended up breaking every record at the school, was named the MVP of the Hula Bowl (featuring some of the best athletes in D-I schools), ect. I wish we would at least try to get some of those players. My rant ends here.Congrats to Harvey!:rock::rock::rock:

We do try, it's just right now kids our choosing schools off of what they "have done" and not on "what they are doing" Do I think Akron is a better school than Syracuse? Absolutely...but it is in a BCS conference with more exposure! If we are a little more consistent we will be ok.

Akron offered all the kids who went to Div 1. The slap in the face last year was when Tyrell Sutton talked about how the hometown team, Ohio State, did not want him and he was looking for payback. His hometown team was the Zips and he did not give us a second thought. Delonte Carter will get his payback in a couple of years.

Hmm....a free education at Northwestern and a chance to play against OSU, Mich, Mich St., Iowa, and Penn St. every year or stay at home and play for a MAC team that was unproven in DI........

I think I am might change the direction of this thread with my comment. First let me say this: didn't you mean, get embarassed by OSU, Mich, Mich St., Iowa, and Penn St. every year. I did notice you said a chance and that is a key word. I don't understand all of the "kids" who go to a larger school and rot on the bench. I was never recruited by a D-I school so I don't know what it's like. Maybe they get star struck but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Why sit on the bench for three years and than have a true freshman come your senior year and take away your senior year. Some of these recruits could start as sophmores at another school and play in more competitive games week in and week out. I think we all know what I'm trying to say.A free education at NW would be nice. Maybe that's it or the girls :rolltide: ?

Given that the Northwestern reference applies to last years Big 11 Frosh of the year .. rotting on the bench seems a bit of a reach. The Wildcats went 2-3 against the teams you listed last year, with Sutton providing much of the scoring. I hear your argument & understand it. But Sutton @ NW doesn't fall even near your points. The guy's a legit Big 10 RB.

To clarify, even though I noted you said you understand. I was making a statement about the players who lost their job to Sutton when they make those kind of decisions. It was late when I typed the inital post. If I don't make sense now I guess I don't have another excuse. I was thinking about someone, like a 3 star type player for example. He wanted to go to Big 11 school but only a crappy one will offer a scholarship with the chance of starting one day. Instead why not come to another school in the MAC, play for a competitive football team, and start sooner rather than sit behind a 4-5 star player or have a blue chip Frosh come in and take your place. I thought people play for the love of the game not to sit on the bench on gameday or get beat up in practice. I guess at 17 when you make that commitment you think you are the greatest rather than see the big picture.

Take it from someone who "sat on the bench" for 3-4 years, you do play for the love of the game. And the chance (note I said chance) to date a cheerleader ain't bad either.
