Fear this America
The Zips have had a few bad games, so we need to pack it up and start basketball season. Come on people wake up there is still a lot of ball to be played yet. The Zips have 6 games left that's half a season left but you guys want to put away the grille, pull down the fear the roo flag and go sit inside your house and wait till the Zips Hit the Hardwood. I don't know if last year was a dream but I do believe it took the Zips (who in cause you forgot were the 2005 Mac Champs) till the very last week of the season to win that ring. Do you guys forget where your at? Well let me remind you that you are in Akron,Ohio home of the comeback kids. How many times have you seen the Zips come back when you thought they were done? More than you can remember I am sure. I think it's a sin to put a fork into the Zips and call it a season. We have a chance to go 8-4 on the season and 6-2 in the MAC. Not to mention one of those teams were an ACC team who knocked off the nation's 17 th seed a few weeks after the Zips beat them. How about bowl games--- There were 28 bowl games last year that had 56 different teams playing in them. How many of those teams sold out their bowl ticket allotments? What did you say three and one of those teams were the Akron Zips. You know what, if I were in charge of marketing and finding a team that would make my bowl game look good The Akron Zips would be my top pick. They are a team that is proven that they can make any game fun and exciting and the fans want to come see them. Just because the weather is getting cold doesn't mean you have to be a fair weather fan. I can promise you the fat lady from Can't state isn't singing yet. You better fasten your seatbelt because this season is about to start in high gear. Fear the Roo America
johnnyzip84
While I am also a realist, I agree wholeheartedly with you on this. Sure the MAC didn't do us any favors with regards to scheduling, but we need to continue to support the football team regardless of the slow conference start. I certainly hope the team itself isn't thinking along the lines of "hoop season is right around the corner". We can't throw the towel in just yet, even if it's only to support the Senior class, many of whom made last year possible. Besides, we have a few scores to settle, and what better way than to start with Miami!

I am the cheapest graduate in the history of the University of Akron and I still have 80% of my season's tickets that I haven't used. However I think that I learned something about logic at the university. A record of 8-4 overall and 6-2 in the MAC with a bowl invitation is a stretch. But I'll be there ... dragging myself up all those crumbling steps without a handrail, sitting on those broken bleachers, wishing I could buy a beer in the stadium, but still cheering the Zips on to victory. RACER
the fate of the mac race all comes down to Can't. unless they stumble there is no hope for the zips.they have five mac games left.if they win three of the five were most likely w out of it.all we can do is win,and hope for the best.considering they have ohio, ball state, toledo, eastern, and buffalo it would take alott for them to lose 3 of the five. hopefully Can't will lose this week ,and then there may be a crack in the door. Z-Pouch
Can't's remaining MAC schedule is as easy as it could get. They play none of the current top three teams in the West - No Nothern Ill, No Central, No Western - and have the toughest games - Toledo and Ohio - at home. It's going to take them waking up and remembering that THEY ARE K.E.N.T to lose the East.
gozips19
lets not worry about the other teams right now lets just worry about winning out. 8-4 is what most thought we'd finish and if the team gets its act in gear it can accomplish this. never give up on the roo baby! Buckzip
Our team is a mess. We need to pcik it up now to salvage a "decent" season.
UADavid
The bye week couldn't have come at a better time. The players and coaching staff need some time to reflect and assess the poor start and turn the page. No need to look back, we have 6 games to go. I expect a lot of improvement in all aspects of the game. It's what we deserve and what the team has worked for this year. We can get on a roll and possibly win out, but this team needs to do it. It sure would soften the disappointment of the first half. Go zips.
roodi
Here's my two cents (sorry if I am repeating others' sentiments):I have a very good feeling about the Miami game and the remainder of the season. Okay, so being in this situation after U of A won the MACC last year is no fun. All that work of the devil down the way on I-76...err I mean K-E-N-T's progress is also hard to endure for many. However, all that aside, Akron has been in mediocre to poor shape in the first part of the season the two years that JD has been in charge: 1 - 4 to begin the 2004 season and 3-4 to begin last year's championship season. So, the team being 2-4 this year perhaps disappoints us, but it shouldn't surprise us or discourage us.Like most of you out there in the Zips Nation, I beleive in JD Brookhart. He's young, and perhaps he's made some mistakes. However, I have confidence that he'll have this team ready on Saturday against Miami. The MAC is often this way. One year you're the champion (and most unexpectedly so, I might add), and the next year your struggling. I like the parity and the surprises. In any case, Akron's season is far from over; 7-5 or 8-4 might not get a bowl bid this year, but who wants to blow thier nose on a 7 or 8-win season. I don't. So, let's get the grills out. Splurge on some good beer this time , stuff the kids in thier Zippy gear and LET'S GO to the game. The Univeristy of Akron forever - Miami never!!!!!
