FearTheRoo
from This site1923 - B.F. Goodrich ordered 150,000 of Sundback's invention for his new product — rubber galoshes; their z-z-z-ip sound so much that he coined the word zipper; 1925 - Goodrich registered "zipper" as a trademark for overshoes with fasteners (allowed to retain proprietary rights only over Zipper Boots). Also here...and here......and here...Oh, and look what we found!I think we can put the goodyear/Goodrich thing to rest! FearTheRoo
Oh, I agree. Iust am backing our research since you said it wasn't correct! ;)Either way, the shirts are fine. They will be fixed for next season I am sure. Let's not lose focus on what is important here: the Rowdies are getting more organized and are improving each game. Go back and reread the post. If you understand commas at all you will see that I never said Goodyear was the originator of the overshoe.I said the shirt had Goodyear on the back instead of BF Goodrich. FearTheRoo
AK-Zips Help me with this one - Could our athletics department get sued by Bud Light for using their campaign without permission? Or could Coors Light come after us for using a competitors campaign when they are the athletics sponsor? No. It is a paraody and we are not marketing it for profit. I think we are safe on this one.Oh, and we DID get it right! Interesting! You show a link that shows that BF Goodrich, NOT Goodyear which is on the back of the shirt, was the designer of the overshoe. So you DIDN'T get it right! And AK-Zips, I agree with Zip N' Dots on this one. You sound kind of flaming, I am sure you would enjoy giving a good tea-bag ever now and thenActually, where the misunderstanding occurs is that you must think I am a part of the Rowdies and had something to do with the shirts...and I am not and do not. Ok, you're right. I made the claim that you designed the shirts. I mean I called you out and said you FeartheRoo designed the shirts and made the mistake. Gimme a break. We were having the conversation about this before you even joined the thread.
Bleacher Bum
I can't wait til Akron wins the national championship. I'm gonna put this year's Rowdies shirt on eBay and makes tons of loot cuz it's the wrong story. I can say "rare, out of print, and mistake." Those words always jack up the price of anything on eBay.
