  1. Joel Hawksley is the photography company as noted in the fine print. This is a video/slide show presentation used with proofs and not actual pictures. that's why they are marked as 'Joel Hawksley sports action photography'. the entire clip is of #20 Cameron Black.
  2. Florida...2 time alum, booster, and football season ticket holder. Go Zips!
  3. A King's touch adds a dose of royalty to Akron's programIt's a good article from a high profile source (Andy Katz) with a lot of good insight.
  4. i remember seeing people with a tent, van, bouncy infaltable thing for kids and stuff all around different fairs, city parties and outdoor events. i even saw them at a concert at blossom one time when i was really... um... sober. they were there i na grassroots effort. I remember summers of 2004 and 2005 if i'm not mistaken.
  5. DH was drafted by the Broncos in the 4th round.
  6. Go Zips!If you have the physcial ability, please go to the Q tonight and support your Akron Zips! I am way to far away to make the trip. Since that door is a closed a new window has opened. I am having a tailgate party 2 hours before and during the game. I have collected a solid group of about 40 to grill out and drink our way to a Zips victory. Most of these folks won't know much about Akron or the MAC but i have them all convinced that and the Zips will be I might play the fight song 100 or so times becasue it just pumps me up! We will cheer the Akron Blue and Gold!
  7. BC will really be down, especially at the beginning of season, since they lost almost every 'contributer' to their team. I hate to say it but Can't may have a chance in this one. I do feel that the depth of the BC depth chart will begin to show after halftime witth BC getting the victory in the end. I look for the scoing summaries and box score to be a lot like the Akron vs. OSU game this year.
  8. I thought the sound was a little bit low but with my PC speakers up about half way it sounded fine. The boss came by, asked what i was doing, and then watched the rest with me. Good class. if you consider the 18 guys Rivals had committed to us right now with the 3 BCS transfers i really like the addition of these guys to contribute on the field iand in the classroom in 2008. Go Zips! there should be a press release on GoZips.com in a little bit that has small bios and a full rundwon of information so idon't think there is any need to highlights.
  9. If giving transfers stars, like Ryan Bain, why not give 4 stars (Rivals) to Andrew Johnson, and Jeremy Bruce 2 stars (Rivals)? Let's see 'em Captain!
  10. http://www.bigv.com.au/index.cgi?det=1&amp...=2456&sID=1New faces to front Lady CatsMonday, 21st January 2008The Geelong Lady Cats are preparing for an exciting season in the Big V Championship Women's competition, with the announcement of Warrnambool Mermaids star Jae Conn to headline the team for 2008.Conn had a successful year as vice captain of the Mermaids in 2007, leading the team to take out the Big V Division One Women's title for the fourth consecutive year. But a decision at season end saw her set herself new goals, which lead her to the courts of Geelong for 2008...and she couldn't be happier."I am excited to be lining up with the Lady Cats. The new coach has some great ideas and I am looking forward to playing under him. It is a bit of a step to go from Division One to Championship division, but I have played in the ABA in Adelaide a couple of years ago so I feel like I am prepared for the challenge," Conn said.Conn went on to say that from a personal perspective, she will be bringing quickness and experience to the team."We are aiming to play up tempo and run hard which suits my style of play. Playing in the states and being a part of two championships with the Mermaids has given me the experience of knowing what it takes to succeed," Conn said, adding , "We have some girls on the team that can flat out play and if we can gel together we will be a very competitive side this year. We will be looking to be competitive which I think we will be, and if we keep working hard, it will pay off in the win column."Another new face for Geelong is that of Darren Busuttil, who has been appointed as Head Coach for the Lady Cats."After 7 years out of coaching (I feel) a bit like a kid in a lolly shop," Bussuttil said on learning of his appointment."About 50% of the team are new faces," Bussitil went on to say adding, "We have a good spread of youth and experience and have some good size as well as speed."General Manager of Basketball Geelong Amy Hawthorne said the club are thrilled to have Conn and Bussutil on board."Jae and Darren both bring passion, discipline and poise to the squad, which is apparent in the preseason training. We have already seen that they compliment Basketball Geelong's existing player base and program structure," Ms. Hawthorne said.Joining Conn in the squad will be familiar faces from last year's team, including Candice Rogers, Ana Marinovic, Vicki Mallon, Charmaine Ferguson, Prue Kenny, Ashlea Salter, Olivia Cameron and Sarah Liebelt as well as 2007 Youth Player of the Year Maddy Taylor. Sarah De Grandi will be returning after two years away and will be joined by Geelong juniors Jess Watson and Ellie Stevens. Chantelle and Katherine Brockett will round out the squad. The Big V season commences March 29 & 30, with final fixtures to be released by the League on February 1.
  11. Is this Clevelander anything like the one on South Beach? I have neever heard of the 'Clevelander' actually in Cleveland.
  12. The commuter excuse IS old AND bogus. Seriously, throw up some flyers around campus, post on Facebook, Zipline, signs at the union restaurants next to the cash register, and put up table tents in the union. THIS IS ALL FREE AND TARGETS YOUR CAMPUS AUDIENCE! That doesn't solve the problem of selling tickets but it does create a better atmosphere which gives people (the general public) a better reason to come to games other than the amazing brand of basketball we play. Does anyone disagree?P.S. think outside the box here. The marketing department should not be targeting you, the reader of message boards, but the people who have never heard of Zipsnation.org but have some connection and interest ot the university of Akron and its well being. YOU, kind reader, already know about the athletics schedule, who we play, and when we play. Why convince you to go? You should be going anyway and helping lead the charge to a sold out arena for home games! GO ZIPS!

  15. Akron was up 20-3 with 2:32 to go in the Q3... what an embarrasing collapse!
  16. OMG NO F'ING WAY! That did not just happen... :27 to go and NOW LOSING!
  17. why can we not make adjustments at halftime like others teams can do against us?
  18. i believe he is still on the team, but CJ11 has been more consistent in practice which is why he gets the start. I'm not sure a 2 QB system would not be a good thing to allow CJ11 to sit a little and see things from the sidelines and give defenses something else to look at with CJ7's speed and playmaking ability. When CJ7 is in the game we could run very conservative oriented play calls with him behind center; i think it could work.
