Bleacher Bum
The Akron women's team won by about 10 points tonight. I don't remember the final score, but when I showed up at halftime, Duquesne was shooting 9% and we were up 23-9. Decent turnout for the game, but it's looking to be the same Rowdies. We need to get some fresh faces in the crowd. Seriously guys, these women's game are great tune ups for our cheers at the men's games. Two cheers that are really coming toether nicely and sound great are the free throws, "Whoosh" and "Whoosh, Z-I (clap clap) P-S (clap clap)"and a new one I heard today. When the other team is shooting at the basket you are behind, if there is an offensive foul or a turnover that goes out of bounds, we all say, "What Way? That Way!" and point towards the other basket. I think that was it. If it's something, please correct me, but it sounded and worked great! Valpo Zip
Today was my first time in a lady zips game and i gotta say that I totally agree with you Bleacher Bum, the women's games are truly great tune ups for our cheers... and plus, i really liked the environment. In those games, the quietness of the court makes us more present and anything we say can be heard by the other players and coaches. I have to say that Duquesne's coach (Dan), the guy that we heckled and made fun of the whole night was such a class act... after the end of the game, he turned towards us and gave us a thumb up and smilingly mumbled some words in what seemed to be applauding the good job that we did. Also, Jodi Kest impressed me during the Rowdies meeting and she keeps doing that... i loved watching every thing she did today. She definitely has a great passion for the game... we have to come up with a cheer for her.
Bleacher Bum
I'm not gonna lie. I probably wouldn't be attending the women's games if Coach Kest didn't call us out at our meeting. Kudos to her for getting her team to play to their ability and another kudos for lighting a fire under our asses too! I didn't see Dan's reaction, but thank God he didn't ask the refs to ask the security officers to ask us to stop picking on him. It's a competitive sport at the college level. You are not going to get any love on the road.
Fear this America
AK-ROWDIES you guys and girls are starting to make me super proud. You guys are steeping up your game and this is the first time since I have been at this univesity that THE JAR has been a feared place to play at. From now on let's have every 1 bring a friend that is an AK-ROWDIES member. I have a dream and I think it could be meet. By the end of the season I would like to see both bottom endzone seats filled up at a women's game. You guys know your making it big when the marketing deparment comes down and says the AD wants to hear a special cheer geared towards the person who just fouled out every time. Saturday has a chance to be ahuge huge mildstone in terms of big games. I think we can and will make winston salem state wanna get out of akron the second they step foot in the JAR . In terms of cool promotions for the ROWDIES, I promise you they are coming real soon. I think the board has came up with some fun things to do. Saturday we need everyone at the JAR for the men's game. It is first come first serve in terms of seats. The gates open at six, you guys better be lined up out side and getting loud and ROWDY. Keep up the good work ......... Who knows mabey if you keep turning heads we may be ready to go to ohio and battle the OZONE head to head.Fear the roo and see you soon !!!!
