ZachTheZip
Those stats are a little deceiving. Northern Illinois is above us in FG%, but we all know how bad they are doing right now. I think what is more telling is the margin of victory. Akron is beating their opponents by over 20 points each game, on average.
zen
The reason I think it is important (particularly in contrast to margin of victory) is that it can be less dependent on your opponent. I'm not necessarily saying that our opponents so far are fluffcakes, but, other than bringing a strong defence and denying good shots, our ability to hit shots is much more independent than our margin of victory. It's a good sign. If we can keep hitting our shots above 50% all year, particularly when we play conference opponents, in my opinion it's going to be a great year. ZachTheZip
I see what you are saying, and I agree. I just wanted to point out that FG% does not neccissarily mean that a team is great, just look at Northern Illinois.
johnnyzip84
I wonder where our stellar FOOTBALL FG percentage (6/14 = 42.9%) would place in these standings!!!
RowdyZip
55% today...holding strong. GO ZIPS!
Jalapeño Zippy
The worst part about that link is that if you go to free throw percentage Akron is not in the top 100. That could kill come conference and tournament play.
