The only reason they did not beat NC-State was because their QB that is just a freshmen, didn't start until the 3rd game of the year...They are the WV of the Div 1 Championship Division...... Quote

If you put Zips squad in there, I am going to guess Akron 31 App State 17. I am not trying to disrespect the Penguins, but point out the Zips are stronger than the best on I-AA. Quote

But if it were in a playoff game or something, App would have been killed. Especially now that Statue Getsy isn't back there any more. Quote

They are an absolute load too.And btw: The team they are facing in the Championship, UMass, is 13-1... their only loss was 21-20 to NAVY.Montana St. beat ColoradoRichmond beat DukeCal Poly beat San Diego St.North Dakota State lost 10-9 to Minnesota ** and they aren't eligable in the playoffs yet! **New Hampshire beat NorthwesternSouthern Illinois beat Indiana; an SIU team that lost to YSU.The gap used to be big, but with the transfers nowadays... the gap between I-A and I-AA is not what is once was! There is a reason that these kids are not 1-A. Not to disrespect YSU or App. State but if those kids were good enough they would be playing at a higher level. i do feel that the coaching is a lot better in 1-AA than people realize. That is why you see 1-AA teams even close or even beating some 1-A teams. It's the perception of them not being as good so guys don't play as hard or pepare as well as they should. Any 1-A team that plays a 1-AA school during the season is not going to go out there and give 100%. The 1-AA squad is going to play their A game and givie it all they have. That is reality. If you put Can't uniforms on YSU guys they would get pummeled in the MAC. Quote
Zips fan Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 From what I can find, I-AA schools went 2-28 against non-BCS schools this season. They had a win against Ball State and New Mexico. This is pretty typical over the last couple of years. I will continue to root for YSU in the playoffs each season and hope they can get another national title, just like I root for Mount Union to win the DIII title. Akron is the only D-IA school I will cheer. Quote
