skip-zip Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Is that supposed to be the campus placed on Alcatraz Island? I've been there, and that looks quite like "The Rock". Quote

Yep...twas a pic on the cover of the buchtellite a couple weeks ago, poking fun at our felon occupant and stick-ups south of exchange. Quote
joshgozips Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Not to take away from the discussion on the artwork, but...Coach Kest is doing a fantastic job with this team. For those of us who are in attendance at each and every Zips home basketball game, it is very easy and safe to say that the 5-5 record SHOULD ACTUALLY be 7-3.In the home opener, soph phenom Niki McCoy had a running jumper rim out on her, touching every part of the rim but the bottom as time expired and Valpo to escaped with the win - is as nice as I can put it. It was a BRUTAL way to lose for a team that has not seen themselves in that many games with so little time remaining in the past few seasons. The ladies then let the second home game of the year slip away just about in the same fashion when with just 18 seconds remaining the had Zips the lead but then Dayton hit a three-pointer with just eight seconds left to give the Flyers the win.Coach Kest and her staff have done a great job realizing what it is that they have to work with that is left over from the previous staff's recruiting. They have tried to bring the pace of the game to the speed that they want - and need - to be playing it at. McCoy just keeps getting better and better, true frosh Riana Miller has played her way into the starting line-up and will not be leaving it for the next four years. If she maintains this pace, watch for Miller to receive serious consideration for MAC All-Freshman team.Another super Frosh is PG Sarah Tokodi. She came to AK-Rowdyville as a serious threat at shooting guard. When many Zips fans heard that it was the staff's intent to mold her into a point guard, we have horrendous flushbacks to recent point guard failures of the past. But Tokodi has taken to the role VERY well and makes smart plays when distributing the ball and still has the ability to go to the hoop when given the opportunity or need. Now don't get me wrong, there is still a LONG way to go for the ladies. The MAC season is right around the corner and opens with of all teams - the nationally-ranked BG Falcons at Rhodes Arena on January 3, followed by K ent on January 6 (ouch). But with the Zips first four game win streak and the first time they have been at .500 through ten games since 1995-96, there is alot to be positive about with the women's basketball team. Quote
FearTheRoo Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Very impressed with Coach Kest so far. Some of the loses this year were very close games too. Quote
hoopla Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 she had done well with the program to date. when they play at the pace and style that kest wants, they do ok. if they dont then they are finished. crooks kills them. she is just in there to fire it up. that is out of their style. and someone give mccoy a left arm please. ZipAlumn Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 The Lady Zips beat Niagara tonight 69-42 giving them a 7-5 record going into MAC play. The women look GOOD. Compared to last year they rebound better, play better defence, look to pass to the open person, and in general seem to be more aggressive and enjoy playing. Things look good for Coach Krest and this team as there are a whole bunch of young players contributing. They might not challenge for the MAC Championship this year, but look out in the years to come. GREAT JOB LADIES !!!! Quote
