RowdyZip
This is gonna be one heck of a game. If they shoot the lights out like on their court last year, we could be out of this early. I predict a loud JAR, still not sold out because of lack of advertising, and a Zips win. Don't want to put a score here...but...Zips 78Nevada 74Oh...and the line will be around... Zips (+4)
ZachTheZip
I agree that there will not be a sellout. Maybe if the Zips win against Nevada there will be enough of a buzz in the community to cancel out the lack of advertising. I also have figured out that win or lose, our RPI will increase bigtime just because of the strength of schedule improvement. Of course we all would like to see a win and I think we can definately pull it out with Rome, Dru, and Wood leading the way.

To win this game, all the pieces should fall in place...rowdiest rowd on both sides (and that's our job)...also Romeo has to bring his A defense and post play, J-wood must get 10 rebounds and defend like a beast. Dru, no turnovers and a couple of threes, Nick must really dial those threes. Cedrick with 3-4 steals and fast break points. And finally whoever plays SF should finally get a clue.We need all that to happen in order for us to win.
Zipgrad1990
Nevada 80 Zips 72, ending the Zips 21 game home win streak. Sorry they are just too big and talented for the Zips to handle.

Ditto here. My voice will be hoarse by the end of the game but they are a very good team. I wonder if Mother Nature is going to help us out by adding 6-10 hours of additional travel time to their LONG trip to Akron?
johnnyzip84
I don't think there is another sport, at any level, in which the home court advantage is more pronounced than college basketball. Given that, I see the Zips prevailing in a squeaker.Akron 80Nevada 79GO ZIPSSS!!!!!
RowdyZip
Line is out... Zips (-1.5) I guess I was wrong...favored at home against a top 25 team, vegas is taking the zips seriously.
RACER
to win the game the zips are going to have to hit a high % of three pointers, and please make your fouls shots. i just don't see akron getting many offensive boards;so going to have to make the all count. ZippyMania
It opened up at Pinny at -1.5 and has moved steadily up and sits at -2.5. People seem to be taking Akron due to the revenge factor and the long winning streak at the JAR.Really tough to pick right now. I lean towards Nevada but to close to call IMO. CLPack
Greetings from Reno. Thought I'd share a local sportswriter's pick with you (I don't think it's on their web site). IMO, Sneddon is the best sportswriter in the Reno area, and his picks are unbiased and often right on.Steve Sneddon (Reno Gazette-Journal) Something's got to give in a game that matches Nevada, a great road team that has a 24-5 record on opponents' home courts in the last three seasons, and a very good home team that was 13-0 at Rhodes Arena last season. This could be the Pack's toughest test in its first 10 games and it will need its best performance of the season. The Pack is going to catch the best shot from the Zips, whose 27-point loss at Nevada was their biggest losing margin last season. The Zips don't have any players taller than 6-foot-7, but their quickness could present problems for Nevada. Travis, the high school teammate of NBA star LeBron James, figures to be a key player in today's game and he has a talented cast around him. Akron is a better team than the one that came to Lawlor Events Center last season. The prediction: Akron by 2.After last year's game, I'm inclined to think that Akron doesn't match up well with Nevada, but I fully admit I'm biased and nowhere near as knowledgable as Sneddon. My pick: Nevada 72 Akron 66. BTW, I think "Zips" is a very cool mascot. Good luck this year (after tonight); hopefully we'll get to see Akron on TV again come Bracket Buster time.
