MACReport
Central Michigan tops MAC in average with 21,563. All the numbers here:http://www.macreportonline.com/06_attendance.html
Z-P
I guess this means they averaged 310,500 at games in the Horseshoe, right?
zipboy
The whole league ended over 15K for the 1st time ever. Not that it really mattered but if you really have to be over 15K this shows there are a lot of ways to make sure it gets done.Next year should be a much easier year for the Zips to get higher numbers - Can't, Ohio, and Indiana at home. blueandgold
I think that it is pretty evident by reading the list that winning football games puts people in the seats. Look where Miami sits in the list then look at where Central Michigan is at. Remember how many "fans" Miami had during the Roethlisberger seasons? If you can consistantly win, they will come! johnnyzip84
Next year should be a much easier year for the Zips to get higher numbers - Can't, Ohio, and Indiana at home.I've been thinking about the Indiana game lately. Is there any chance that this game could be played in Cleveland, just as the BG-Wisconsin game was this past year? Not that I prefer this of course. It would take away a lot of the home field advantage I think. I'm just wondering if anyone in the know can say if this is even a remote possibility.Go Zips!! timmyboy
if the university would uncover the 1500 seats that they have covered and allow people to sit where they want, they would get alot more people to come to the games. i was at every home game this year, and it kinda pi$$ed me off that towards the end of the season they were forcing people (who didnt buy a reserved ticket) to sit on the opposite side of the zips team. maybe they should start letting people sit where they want to sit, because the people of akron will definatly remember that when it comes time to build their new stadium. skip-zip
A couple of thoughts here...Opening that end zone would probably add more like 5,000 seats. But, I don't really think we need them at this point. If only the people collecting attendance figures really knew how many (few) fans were really at Akron games this year. GP1
maybe they should start letting people sit where they want to sit, because the people of akron will definatly remember that when it comes time to build their new stadium. If you allow people to sit wherever they want, then they will feel entitled to sit wherever they want. When the new stadium is built, they will feel entitled to sit in the reserved sectiion even if they didn't pay for it because like a child they will say, "but we did it at the Rubber Bowl". If people want to sit in reserved seats, they should pay to sit in them. It's not much more money to sit in reserved than GA. The Univeristy needs to break the culture of entitlement. Zipsrifle
I was under the impression that they forced everyone in GA to sit on the visitors side so that when the games were on TV, the stadium would actually look like there were a lot of people there. I also thought this was the reason they closed the endzone seating.
timmyboy
they wouldnt even let you sit on the home side if the game wasent on TV. Do you think u should have to pay another 6$ per person to sit on the home teams side, when the benches are all the same hard uncomfortable ones on both sides? Do you think u should have to pay another 6$ per person to sit on the home teams side, when the benches are all the same hard uncomfortable ones on both sides? That is a policy I just can't understand. What is my incentive for buying a reserve ticket, say on the 30 yard line on the press box side of the field, when I can buy a 50 yardline ticket for general admission prices on the visitor's side of the field???I went to the BG game with friends so I didn't use my season ticket. I couldn't believe that they made us sit on the BG side of the field.I don't believe the Western Mich game was on TV and they still enforced that policy.
