zip81
USA Today has major feature article on Akron Zips flying high in the MAC.Of course, there is a LeBron tie in, but still very nice...good pub, for Akron and the conference.http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/men...mes-akron_x.htm
zen
I know that we see it all the time and get tired of it, but odds are that "the lebron tie in" will be the first time a reader has heard of it for most people outside our area, and is fine with me if it goes a little farther to planting a seed of identification and recognizability to the school's name. And if, (big "if") the zips get into NCAA tourney and win a few games, that's probably all you would hear people identifying the zips with "Oh yeah, the ex teammates of Lebron James". But still, it's the kinda thing that sticks in peoples memory, and can help Akron seem a little bit more recognizable to some schlub in Oregon or Oklahoma who might otherwise mix the name up with Alcorn State or something. heh

Blue & Gold
I don't mind the constant LeBron references either. Dru and Rome may get a little annoyed with them all, for they are very good ball players themselves, but having said that, I think UA needs to milk the close relationship with the greatest player in the history of basketball as much as we possibly can! Kids from coast-to-coast can only think it's cool!

zipboy
If we switch over to Nike from Adidas, I would not be surprised to see Lebron spotted in some Zips gear. That would do wonders for merchandise sales.
