I'm sorry but these players are given every advantage to succeed in the classroom (free tutoring etc.) if you can't succeed in the classroom it's because you aren't willing to put out the effort. SO yea he's right get someone in there that realizes that he's been blessed with a full scholarship to a Division 1-A University and he owes it to the school, his team and himself to succeed in the classroom.

I blame 80% on him and 20% on the program. There is to many places to get help on campus to flunk out. But a small part of that is the program installing some kind of system to help kids. Some of these kids come in and are behind the academic ball before they even get started. These kids need to be flagged and helped out along the process. Don't get me wrong I hope this young man gets his grades in order and can get a college degree from some university. But as a fan if he can be repalced by someone else who can get it done on the field and in the classroom, then I say give them a shot.My whole point is if he stays and does not make grades for next fall then we are short one player for next season. But if he leaves and we can sign somebody else for next year then this new person will have a chance to play.

there is a program already and it has been very effective for some people and not so effective for others. there's only so much you can "make" someone do, and if they don't want to show up and try in their classes you can't do anything about that. for example, you can require them to sit down and study for how ever many hours they are assigned but come test day, you can't make them try their best on the test. i don't know dantley's details, nor would i share them if i did. he always seemed like a nice guy to me and hopefully things workout for him.

its a good thing he is gone. how can you trust the guy as your teammate to help you out if you need it when you cant even rely on him to do the work in the class to be able to stay on the field.

Study table is real. The guys clock in and are monitored. But there is that old saying, "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink." The coaches can't go to class with them. They've got to manage their own schooling and take advantage of the opportunities to get the help they need.Aren't all these scholarships non-replaceable?

They're replaceable if the kid flunks out or leaves.
Yes but under the NCAA's new guidelines we're going to start losing scholarships if we keep having kids flunk out and leave.

I agree. There is a big difference between a recruit who never shows up, never enrolls and one who makes it to the point of being ready to contribute and then can't focus on passing Sports Management classes. The trend here is starting to get more than a little disturbing.
