Zip Watcher
I couldn't care if Zippy's a$$ was hanging out tonight .. whoever had the gig today did a great job & gets props from me today. We had our kid with us today. With this win, the Zips are something like 32-1 with him in attendance all time. He's just a bit over 2 years old today. For whatever reason, the noise in the JAR is bothering him this season .. loud places never did before, but just seems like it takes the boy about through the first half to get acclimated & enjoy the game. I should tell you that he's a huge hoops fan .. the only movie / DVD he ever requests is "Jimmy! .. we watch Jimmy!" (Hoosiers).I've learned that we take him in just after the lineups & avoid the whole smoke & lights thing .. but today we got him down there early. The boy about lost it .. had a real hard time with the noise & pyro stuff .. was asking to go home now .. not enjoying things at all.But here comes Zippy up the aisle in the lower section for the first time all season. I give the high sign & Zippy comes over to say hi to our little guy .. Zippy actually came down the row behind us. The boy gets down in that row & runs to Zippy, who offers five & gets a hug instead. Zippy rolled with it & really cheered the kid up. Didn't take much time, but really made a difference.I've got nephews who were at times freaked out by Zippy, but I think my boy has Zippy right up there with Santa Claus at this point.Whoever you were today, Zippy .. nice job! You made a kid's day today & made the parents life a little easier.Anyone reading this who knows the guy / girl .. please pass this along. zip81
No one is knocking Zippy.Kids love Zippy.I love Zippy. We just said he could use a new suit. That's all.
FearTheRoo
Zippy could use some new duds.I have reason to suspect that Zippy is a great individual. I am not surprised you had a good experience.
RowdyZip
Correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe we just got a new zippy suit this year or last year. Some friends and I noticed it was a shiny new suit at a football game. It really is a shame if it's that worn out after a year.

I will never forget the smile on my 8 year old's face after getting Zippy's autograph during the Buffalo game the other week.I love it when he walks around and the kid just flock to him. Zippy is beyond cool. Lets get him a new suit every year. It is well worth it!!!
Bleacher Bum
I know the real Zippy! There's actually like 4 of them, but 3 of them suck! The real Zippy was Zippy today! Also, the suit is brand new. They won't let us pick her up anymore because of the "new suit." But I did notice the holes. Seems to me that she should be able to crowd surf again. flipthezip
Great Job today Zippy. As for the condition of the costume, we have several and yes one is brand new. I suspect todays was one of the old ones. With several individuals performing as Zippy and at mulitple functions, we are constantly rotating costumes to be cleaned.Rest assured, the last thing we want is for Zippy to look worn. At future games, we will make a point to be curtain Zippy is looking his best.
GoZips88
I'm glad someone started this thread. I thought about it but held off. Someone should have made sure the new suit was ready for the nationally televised game. I sit 2/3rds of the way up in the upper blue seats and could see and count the holes/worn spots. Zippy's the best mascot in the country in my biased opinion - that's my son in my avatar when he was 4 years old sitting on Zippy's lap. Keep it up Zippy - the kids love you and so do the rest of us! Mich....there were just two worn spots where the two spring, wire thingys are below the belt.Other than that, it still looked pretty good.thanks to all of our Zippys! Z.I.P.
Okay! Time for my favorite Zippy, maybe favorite Zips' story (pardon if you've read it before):Akron players, staff, cheerleaders get to the Outrigger East in Waikiki back in December, 1991. I'm sitting on Mac Yates' (SID then), bed, and I hear the chick who plays Zippy in the hallway, say to the cheerleading coach, "Okay, I got Zippy's head. Where did you put his tail?" Needless to say, it was too late to FedEx half a mascot to the Hawaiian Isles for a weekend, so she got a free trip.Folks in the room were giving their own as they knew the "leave" was no accident, just as they knew Zippy was getting it on with the trainer on the side. lol! BZip_08
Zippy rocks, but let's face it she needs a tail lift.I miss crowdsurfing kangaroos, and when I almost died from suffocation from said marsupial after Zippy fell on my head in Detroit.Good times. BirdZip
Whoever it is checking out Zippy's butt during games, please don't sit next to me.I am happy to see, though, that the Zips faithful are checking Zippy for lumps. We should ensure that gets done at least once per month.
zip81
Anybody remember the Zippy who used to stand on his head at mid-court?I'm thinking it was in the late 80's...during the Huggins era.
ziptrumpet87
yep... and Zippy used to get tossed around by the cheerleaders then too.
