doccomet87
Watched the WMU game today ,tivoed after being there yesterday, and they must have mentioned Lebron 25-30 times at least! A few times would have been enough, considering he never played for the Zips, took the focus off the team in general.

Blue & Gold
I was a little bit offended at how they insinuated that the Zips' level-headed play was due to the LeBron influence. Perhaps they should consider the possibility that LeBron plays such level-headed basketball due to the Keith Dambrot influence!

mcperp
One of the world's top 5 hoopsters linked with the Zips? I'll take that free advertising every day of the week. Sure it gets old and a little annoying for locals, but to free associate Lebron and U of A isn't a bad thing. I can't think of another high schooler who went to the pros ever get linked to a college program at all. Mid Majors gotta take what's available; when most hoops fans hear Indiana State, they think Larry Bird, out west, Santa Clara = Steve Nash, etc.
zen
Seriously, true. If you think some schlub in BFE who was flipping through ballgames on saturday afternoon and caught a little bit of the UA/WM game is going to remember Akron from a hole in the wall, you are mistaken.... until they mention LeBron. You and I know that we have some history. You and I know that we have an identity.Joe Sixpack doesn't, and is hardly likely to pause and take much notice, let alone remember much at all about the Zips.Unfortunately, that's how it is.... and if "the Lebron connection" sets us apart a little bit to the idiot who doesn't give two shiits about mid-majors, I think it's a bit of a blessing until that miraculous day we do something that registers more than a blip on the national radar, such as winning several games in the big tourney.
