Blue & Gold
Just saw on Rivals that DT Wayne Jones gave a verbal to Pitt. That hurts. Everyone knows that what we need most of all are DT's. Oh, well. It's still shaping up to be the best class overall in the history of Zips football. Even if it is a bit lacking in this area of need. timmyboy
here are some other names I think we should have gone after harder at the DT position. Im not even sure if we offered any of these kids.5 Star: Marvin Austin 6.1 6-2/291/4.68 Washington, D.C. Forty: 4.68 secsBench max: 405 poundsVertical: 27 inches GPA: 2.8He is ranked as the #1 DT in the country an he has yet to sign.I know this would probably be a long shot considering he already has offers from Florida State, NC, Maryland, USC, Tennessee, miami(FL), and Illinois. But hey you never know, after seeing akron pull some of the players they did away from other schools, anything is possible.3 star: Kellen Belcher 6-3/285/4.9 Dodge City, KS interesting... the only schools to offer this kid are Division 2 schools. I wonder why, he is a big body who is also pretty good with his feet and speed for someone his size. I think he would fit nicely into what we are trying to do at akron.3 star: Sam Jones 6-5/262/5.22 Fuquay-Varina, NC Bench reps: 19Vertical: 30 inchesShuttle: 5.15 secsIs looking at NC State. I think had we recruited him an showed him the game film of us beating NC State in their own stadium, it could have helped push him towards the zips.hasent heard from the New staff after the old staff offered him a scholarship and he accepted, so not sure where he stands or if he will even go to a college for football, since nc state and wake forest (very little) were the only schools to offer.2 star: Corian Garrison 6-4/290/4.9 Starke, FL Is getting looked at by South florida, and UCF. West Virginia has also showed interest in this big body who has very good speed for a 290 pounder. Probably will end up with South Florida.2 star: Jansen Hamilton 6-5/280/4.92 Bluffton, SC Forty: 4.92 secsBench max: 330 poundsSquat max: 450 poundsIs Getting looks from Midd. Tenn. St and The Citadel. He is another big body with nice speed. We need the big guys who can plug up the middle of the line, but also have the speed to pursue the ball carriers from the backside. Both him and Corian look as if they can do that.
