UAZipster0305 Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 http://pittsburghpanthers.cstv.com/sports/.../020607aaa.htmlIt says the Big East Indoor Championships will be held in Akron...I assume this means our field house. That's great for us!Imagine how this helps the university's image, the local economy for a weekend, and any ambitions we might have of joining a BCS conference. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 I think if we were to join a BCS conference, the Big East would be a good fit. I am suprised at this because it basically means they are admitting that we have the best field-house within their geographical area. It could also be because we are technically a neutral site, thus not giving one team a home-field advantage. It is very good news for the Akron, though. Quote
UAZipster0305 Posted February 7, 2007 Author Report Posted February 7, 2007 I don't think there is a "home field advantage" in track as there aren't many fans and everyone performs on the same indoor surface. This is great for Akron. Quote
zipboy Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 They held the Big East championships here last year as well. I think the host school had a conflict and they decided to try Akron, great facilities, centrally located. Obviously they liked what they saw last year. Quote
