ZachTheZip Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 I think we will get many more votes, but not break into the top 25. Beating two good teams by double digits has to count for something. Quote
Valpo Zip Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Hope u feel better SGM. I see us being ranked 33-34 after this week. Quote

skip-zip Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 We could move up a little bit, you never know. Remember what I've told you guys all along. Historically, the teams in the lower level conferences only gain new votes a couple at a time, no matter how well they are playing. Thanks for the information. I sure hope this has an impact on our at-large chances. We just need to keep winning !! Quote
zen Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 I'm with skipzip. I see akron maybe getting several more points, but we wont be jumping 7 to 10 positions. Quote
RowdyZip Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 I'm with skipzip. I see akron maybe getting several more points, but we wont be jumping 7 to 10 positions. Two things:1) This weeks poll: Zips are in 40th with 7 votes. The difference from the Zips in 40th and K State in 30th is 30 votes.2) The Zips had a good week. The AP voters saw the same things we did: The Zips pounding a top 100 RPI team (Ohio) by 31 points, and defeating a top 110 rpi (and conference leader) in austin peay. The AP writers watch these things (even ESPNU) and they saw us win a game at home against a solid team by 17, even with the attempts to shift the game by the OVC officials. 30th place? Not out of the question. Likely? Nope. I see the Zips in the 32-36 range with around 25 votes. Probably being overoptimistic, so sue me. Quote
skip-zip Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 We're not going to jump from 7 to 20-30 points in one week. In order to do that, we need a dozen more sportswriters to instantly jump on our bandwagon in one week, and it simply doesn't happen that way in the AP Poll. At this point in the season, these guys know who they like, and who they don't. And they simply don't waver very much from week to week.I just hope, if we can hold steady to that #40 spot, or move up a bit before the end of the season, that it will have a bearing on our chances at an at-large bid. Tough road game Wednesday. This could have a big bearing on where we go from here on out. Quote

ZachTheZip Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 19 votes, huh? Awesome. It's just too bad that we are still stuck in 40th place. Oh well, a win at Miami would certainly help us gain a little ground. Now, when does today's Mid-Major top 25 come out? Also, where do you find out who voted for us and at what spot they put us at? skip-zip Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 The point jump is better than I expected. The word must be getting out. It's too bad we didn't move up in position too. This 40th place ranking is really all we have to rely on right now if we want a remote shot at an at-large. So, let's keep winning, and keep the momentum going. Quote
