Now, if only the local TV news would catch on, too. WKYC actually did have footage from the Buffalo game last night and mentioned that the Zips would play Can't for the MAC East title on Sunday. The people here at work get a little irritated when I stop them in mid-sentence to correct them. They razz me a little bit by emphasizing "... the UNIVERSITY OF AKRON ..." when they do remember but at least they're beginning to think twice about it. Many in this area grew up referring to it as AU but that is (hopefully) slowly changing. We're NOT Podunk U - we're The University of Akron and we're beginning to put a little ass-kicking behind that proper name! GO ZIPS!(Not 5 minutes after submitting this post, a co-worker who I have NEVER said anything to regarding 'AU' walked by my cube and said "My husband and I just had lunch on campus at AKRON U and ..." ... of COURSE I said something to her! ) Quote

You gotta remember, the goofball isn't trying to pimp the zips. He's trying to write about something that he thinks is clever. He prolly pat himself on the back for what he thought was the first big story to "expose" the zips and the Lebron connection.Forget about it. You can't complain. It's futile. Quote
