According to this document: http://www3.uakron.edu/bids/footballstadiumrfq.doc, the final documents will be done this Friday! (Friday will be a GREAT DAY!!!) Followed by the final presentation to the board of trustees on the 21st. So, we should be able to dig up some new dirt in the next couple weeks. I'm doing my usual nosing around.Go Zips!

I'm ignorant about all things construction. By "final documents," does that mean that the architectural work & drawings are completed? And, if so, does that mean we'll be able to see some drawings?!And, as an aside, I know we're all hoping for a bowl, or a horseshoe. But if a double-grandstand design is in the works (due to lack of $$$), if it's done beautifully, with lots of red brick and wrought iron work, I'll bet we're all gonna end up being real excited about it, even if it's not a bowl or horseshoe!

Here is an email that was just sent on campus:In a special meeting this morning, the University's Board of Trustees approved two recommendations—the appointment of John J. Reilly as associate general counsel and the appointment of a construction manager for the design development stage of a proposed multi-use facility that would include a football stadium. Reilly, an attorney for Case Western Reserve University, had been associate legal counsel at Ohio State University. He will join UA's Office of General Counsel in mid-March. He replaces Christine Williams, who resigned last fall to join her husband in Germany after he had finished a tour in Iraq. Reilly’s hiring was approved by Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann. Through a request-for-qualifications process, the partnership of Welty Building Co. and Hunt Construction Group was selected as construction manager for the design development phase of a proposed multi-use facility that would include a football stadium. The appointment does not mean a final decision has been made to proceed with the project. Instead, it is a step required to obtain an accurate estimate of building costs for such a facility. Both firms now will work with architects to create a design plan and determine estimates, which are expected in several months. The Board will meet next at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 21 on the third floor of the Student Union.
