Please keep the Adidas contract

I have noticed a trend the past couple of years where teams that have signed with Nike have had their uniforms re-designed in horrific ways. Oregon's football uni's are an example, as are the re-designed OSU uniforms that make them look just like all the other red-wearing teams. When these changes took place they were not popular at all. And now, to top it all off, they want to change how basketball uniforms look too. I am very afraid that if we sign with Nike, they would make our uniforms look like Can't's. Nike seems to only use solid primary and secondary colors, so gold would become yellow and the blue would be brighter. Here is what they are planning to do to OSU, Syracuse, and Florida starting, I believe, next year. http://men.style.com/news/style/030507030507h.jpg

but one thing's for certain: Those nut-huggers you wore in junior high aren't coming back anytime soon.
:rofl: personally i would prefer nike over adidas, but i don't see any changes coming soon. what gets me is that adidas doesn't make the warm up suit jackets etc with blue and gold. it's all gold or navy with gray and white highlights. to me that's disappointing especially when blue and gold are some of the more common school colors. oregon football is always going to have something wacky and new... just because they can. i don't like the look of those b-ball uniforms and i don't think the long sleeve thing will last. i can't see how that would be comfortable. in football, yes because you wear pads etc. but b-ball - no way.

Great find Uakronkid! I don't know what to think of those uni's. They are awfully different, but if they catch on, as everyone knows, it would be easy to look back at the current uni's and find it hard to imagine how anyone could ever be caught dead in them (i.e., mullets & parachute pants!) And your comment about Nike using only primary colors is very insightful. There is absolutely NO WAY any of us would EVER want to go back to yellow, as opposed to GOLD!!! That would be worth staying with adidas right there! But Nike's a huge company with lots of $$$ and with the Akron-LeBron connection, man, who knows but one day in the near future Nike may be ready, willing and able to do some great things financially for the Zips athletics programs. I say we stick by LeBron as closely as we possibly can. He's the current and future face of American sports. If we can have a built-in connection with him, that could do wonders for us on a national (and international?) level!
