TXZipFan
I was on Rivals.com and Johnny really gives Akron a shout out on his AMO video just click the "Akron standout hopes for more" on the right hand side of the screen. He says he's gonna be at the spring game and he really wants to know more about Akron. Sounds like a good kid with his head on his shoulders and would be a HUGE addition to our Defense. I hope we get this kid... he could be a 4 year starter in his home town and I think that he's interested in that opportunity for the sound of it.Check it out it's definitely worth a look. timmyboy
He is a good kid, and i think the fact that he could be playing opposite former HS teammate and good friend Brian Williams makes him even more interested.

It's great for team chemistry when you have people playing together who have known eachother before. I like this whole early recruitment thing. My psych professor says that once you give people a good first impression, it is very hard to make them believe different. Get them early, give them a good impression, and it will be hard for them to change their minds later. I actually learned something useful in psychology class! Cool! TXZipFan
I didn't put 2 and 2 together with Bryan Williams and Adams, nice catch. He could be a real playmaker for us...go zips!!!
zff
If Adams comes to Akron it would put the Zips into the next tier of teamsin college football.Picture Adams vebals before his senior season. He gets Dawson from Akron North to come with him. Then Fleming from Hoban follows suit and on and on and on..........Bryan Williams will play a big part of Johnny becoming a Zip........ timmyboy
Im sure williams would like nothin better then to have a fellow griffin opposite him on the field. If im not mistaken, when they did play together at buchtel for the year or 2, buchtel had the toughest pass defense in the whole area. I do remember a team from youngstown (liberty) having 2 receivers who were all state that year, and they were completely shut down by buchtel in the state playoff game. williams and adams were frustating them all game.... would LOVE to see them do the same thing for the zips. lets help get him here williams! True, but I'm hoping Williams takes over at RB. We need a more explosive option than Kennedy and Williams is the man!

gozips19
timmy if i am not mistaken williams and adams never played together. williams graduated in 05 making adams a frosh. i don't think adams got any p.t. that year that team was pretty stacked. regardless adams and williams are great athletes from the same school and i hope mr. excitement chooses to stay at home! I do believe Adams will be a 4 year letterman for the griffins. I thought that is what he said on his video on rivals.com. I might be wrong, but i could have swore i seen him and williams on the field in the state playoffs. anyways you are correct about them both being great athletes, i also hope JD works his magic an keeps him in his hometown. Zipgrad01
Sorry to burst your bubbles, but things do not look good with Adams. Akron is among 3 schools that have offered him, yet he does not even mention them as a school of interest. Now that the big boys have come calling you can basically cross Adams off your wish list.Akron Buchtel defensive back Johnny Adams will be one of the many recruits in attendance on Saturday for the Buckeyes' spring game. Adams likes Jim Tressel's program."I'm going to Ohio State's spring game," Adams said. "I'm going to be taking a tape down to give to coach (Jim) Bollman."Former Buckeye assistant Tim Beckman had been recruiting Adams, but when Beckman left for Oklahoma State, Bollman took over.Adams has visited several schools including Ohio State."I went to Notre Dame's junior day," he said. "And I visited Ohio State for a junior day. I went to a Pitt (spring) practice."While Adams said he does not have a favorite, he is impressed with Ohio State and the Buckeyes' football program."I like what coach (Jim) Tressel has been doing," Adams said. "They've won a national championship. They send a lot of kids to the NFL. And I like the city."Adams has scholarship offers from Syracuse, West Virginia and Akron."I'm interested in Ohio State, Michigan, West Virginia, Syracuse, Pitt, Iowa and Illinois," Adams said. The 5-foot-11 and 157-pound Adams has played cornerback, safety and wide receiver, and returns punts and kickoffs. He intercepted six passes during his junior season."I want to play cornerback in college," Adams said.

Because on his clip on rivals. he was talking alot of good things about Akron. He mentioned OSU and them others schools a few times but he was really talking up the Zips and what they are doing with the program. I would say the chances are not the best, but there not the worst that he will be a zip. Hopefully JD an the staff doesnt back off of recruiting him because he is getting these other offers. Zipgrad01
The video you are referring to is from 3/28. The article I pasted is from 4/18. I agree with you. I hope the staff doesn't back off him because other schools are recruiting him. I just don't want people getting their hopes up on a kid that doesn't even list them as an option even though they are one of only 3 schools to extend him offers. It seems like it is your typical scenario. Akron is the first to offer the kid and he is excited until the big dogs come calling. Then he forgets all about the "smaller schools." Maybe we get lucky and some of these bigger schools jerk him around a little and Akron stays loyal to him as a primary need. It is still early, so who knows?
