timmyboy
A friend of mine who is real close with the OSU football program informed me today that one of their "star" recruits in this past recruiting class, Eugene Clifford was arrested a few weeks back for possession of drugs (weed). Also about a month ago, former Ohio High school basketball stand out O.J Mayo was arrested for the same thing. My point here is that alot of people (in previous threads) are doubting Carlton Jackson saying he has all these issues an stuff and that they dont think he can be a leader. Look at some other athletes who have been in trouble with the law (Clifford,Mayo,Alex Boone,Troy Smith) who were able to be pretty good leaders. I think that Jackson will be a great leader for us on the field regardless of what has happened with him off the field ( i dont know if he has ever had a legal issue). Just look at how much of a leader he was while back in HS (won the state title).

timmyboy
Sean Hakes was the MVP in a 2005 Texas State Championship game. He also helped his team win a Texas State Championship in 2004. I know. But noone is questioning his leadership. They were talkin as if Jackson doesnt know how to lead a team. Jackson led his team to the title in the toughest division in florida. Hakes led his team to a state title in the parochial division. Had hakes played against some of the public schools in texas an not only the pricate school ( this is what i was told) i dont see him winning the state title in a talent rich texas. Zip_ME87
I'm just glad that we have 3 talented qb's to compete. I'm showing my partiality to Hakes the same as you keep showing yours for Jackson.Your right Hakes did play for a catholic high school, but it's still a tough division in Texas (from what I have read). TXZipFan
Since I live down here I can shed some light on this... Hakes played in the toughest private school division. It's comparable to Division 2 ball in Ohio. So take that for what it's worth... on a side note his team had never won a state title in it's history until Hakes was there. TXZipFan
Either way... whoever plays we're in good shape.
Zip_ME87
Either way... whoever plays we're in good shape. Thanks for the information TxZipsFan. I have been wondering about the divisions in Texas. I've talked with Sean on 3 occasions now and really like the kid...his personality/respectful attitude, his drive, his true happiness to be at Akron. I really want to see this guy succeed, but I agree that the Zips are in good shape no matter who plays.
