This was said in the defenseive preview, where they lumped special teams at the end. :(

Um, uh .... things can't be any worse. The one bright spot on the special teams, kick returner David Harvey, is gone. The overall kicking game has to get better by default.

HulaZip...I sure hope you're wrong. What a sad way for us to lose our most promising big-play guy. This offense was going to desperately need a guy like him next year. This is not the kind of news you want to get during the off-season. Just hope someone else comes along to fill those shoes.

 I still can't understand what would make someone give up a full ride scholarship to have a decent collge life and the chance of earning a college degree while playing his favourite sport... let alone the chances to go pro...What is he doing now ? working on a gas station ? :wall::wall::wall:

No offense 74ZIP, but just because the kid couldn't pass his classes doesn't make him a "low-life" so kids just aren't cut out for college. It's a shame that he couldn't capitalize on the opportunity at Akron and it hurts the team. But you're acting like he's a criminal or something. Maybe I impathize because I have had a friend flunk out, and he's the farthest thing from a "low-life".

Can't say I sympathize with someone who throws away a tremendous opportunity. 20 some thousand of us students could only wish we had full rides let alone a shot at professional sports. Now the bum can enjoy flipping burgers the rest of his life. Too bad I can say the same about 75% of Brookhart's recruits. I'm a little tired of this.

I don't care what any of you say this hurts, we lost a "Freshman of the Year" player. Sometimes we need to be honest with ourselves, there is a reason an athlete as good as Harvey ends up at Akron. But some of you i feel are too judgmental. I have mixed feeling about Harvey...1. i don't know the kid...so if he has been pushed though the school systems all his life because he was a good athlete you can't expect him to be able to do it on his own all of a sudden at the college level. All the tutors in the world won't help if you don't know the fundamentals.2. In order to flunk out he had to have 2 bad consecutive semesters, if the first was bad J.D. should of had one of his G.A.'s escorting this kid everywhere from class to tutors to class and then to practice. I know that they are young adults but if my job is on the line "i" would do whatever it takes. But failing at an opportunity that others wish they had doesn't make you a low life!

Please stop the personal slams on David Harvey. It is not fair to attack a young man just becasue you are pissed he is not playing football. Nobody knows what is going on with him to be making judgements. If this continues this thread will be closed and the users will be warned.ThanksZFF

I agree with ZFF, we don't need to bash kids on a personal level. So let me do this on a more roundabout level. The report mentioned our pitiful punting game, and I agree. We have a former All-Ohio div. I punter on our roster. Does anyone else agree that it might be time to let him try? He can't do any worse!
