BZip_08 Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 BIO FROM INFOCISION'S WEBSITE, THIS GUY IS THE BEST:Gary Taylor (CHAIRMAN OF INFOCISION) received his Bachelors degree in Marketing from the University of Akron in 1975. He served as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Marketing Department while earning his MBA from the University in 1977. He has more than 30 years experience in direct marketing, fundraising, advertising, and the teleservice industry. In 1982, working out of his home, he started InfoCision Management Corporation (IMC).... Today InfoCision has grown into the third largest privately held teleservice company in the world, employing more than 3,000 people. g-mann17 Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 Kudos to Mr. Taylor! It is great to see a University of Akron alumnus do well and contribute back to his community. His company earned that new facility. So to Mr. Taylor and Infocision I give you a big Quote
mcperp Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 InfoCision raises more money for nonprofit organizations than any other teleservice company. InfoCision is also a leader in providing direct marketing and commercial teleservice applications for some of the largest Fortune 500 companies. . Doesn't this make Mr. Taylor the biggest perpetrator of annoying and maddening telemarketing calls in the world? Nothing instills a sense of peace and tranquility in the American home like an aggressive telemarketer hawking credit card protector service or a 2 week health club membership.Kudos to InfoCision for their wise investment in UA, but let's not get the annoiting oil out. GP1 Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 Kudos to InfoCision for their wise investment in UA, but let's not get the annoiting oil out. I agree on both counts. Mr. Taylor has been very kind with his gifts to UofA. We should all thank him for the new stadium. Let's be clear about where the money came from though. This is no moral judgement, just the way things were. If Mr. Taylor didn't do it, somebody else would. Here it goes. What the biography doesn't say is that InfoCision got started from religious fundraising in the early 80s when guys like Pat Robertson and Jim Baker realized they could convince little old ladies to give $25 out of their fixed income to keep themselves from going to Hell. Mr. Taylor interned at Rex Humbard Ministries in Cuyahoga Falls. Some of the appeals were shameless. While it is true that InfoCision has helped many worthy non-profits such as American Cancer Society and March of Dimes, they still have this dirty little past (and present) under them that they don't like to talk about. Perspective is important....keep this in mind when sitting in the new stadium. The funny thing is that I would have done the same thing if I had thought of it. I guess I'm as shameless as a telemarketer. Quote
Zipsrifle Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 So, does anyone know if the naming rights will be up for sale again in the future or will the InfoCision name be associated with the stadium forever? I never heard of InfoCision until now, and what happens if they get sold, who owns the naming rights Mr. Taylor or the comapny? I don't know anyone who likes telemarketers, but lets be frank, if it wasn't for Mr. & Mrs. Taylor, this stadium wouldn't be a reality. I'm very thankful they were so generous.....but.....I still don't' like telemarketers. Quote
ziptrumpet87 Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 It was Mr. Taylor's own money, so I assume he holds the naming rights, not his company. Quote
Zipsrifle Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 It was Mr. Taylor's own money, so I assume he holds the naming rights, not his company.Yea, I thought about that, but is this one of those "I bought this giant SUV for my company and I just happen to have "Buisness" at the grocery store, and at the mall, and at the beach and...." Did he connect his buisness to the money in any way? I don't know if this opens up any tax opportunities or something like that. Quote
ziptrumpet87 Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 no clue. I'm guessing it's more likely a tax thing for his estate. Quote
