Did football camp start today? If you take a look over at gozips.com you would not find your answer. Can we get a roster or maybe a depth chart. This is the kind of crap that pisses me off. If you want people to come to your games at least keep your webiste updated. Damn send me the information and I will update it myself for free!!!!!

Al-Teric Balaam, the talented sophomore linebacker, will not be eligible to play this season :wall: Alex Allen is 100 percent. Those are my words, not the team doctor’s. After seeing him bust a 60-yard run off left tackle today, you’d probably agree :thumb:

What else is new? It's always fun to look for the roster each fall. Regulars that we were all counting on just vanish for no apparent reason. So who are the 2 that didn't have the grades?

Wow. I used to think that a 3 to 4 foot vertical leap was good. But 11 feet? Wow  (Obviously a typo).Since Brookhart is indicating that he will quickly whittle his QB choice down to two people, is anyone getting the strange feeling that Hakes will be the odd man out? If so, do you think he'll be moved to another position? Or, will he stand on the bench for two years waiting for his next chance to start? Not sure we can answer this question right now, but I had been hoping that he would emerge as the starter right now. Doesn't look like that's going to happen. Ever since I saw him practice before last season, I thought Alex Allen looked to be the best running back we had. If he is 100%, and stays that way, look for him to quickly get the bulk of the playing time in the backfield as the season progresses. Even though it's only the first practice, I still remain very, very, very concerned about our ability to generate offensive production this year. Hearing that the defensive front is getting good pressure (and we aren't known as a good pass rushing team), and that the WRs are unable to bail the QB out, is a bad sign. Sounds like our dilemma in the last couple of games of 2006 is continuing right into 2007.

Wow, that came up fast! Glad we're starting against Army this year....I'm not saying we'll pound on them, but at least these guys will be eased into the season. How do you guys feel about the potential of the O-line? Do we have the beginnings of a great MAC OL, or will we continue with mediocrity? For QB, seems to me that Jackson is #1 right now. Charlie could scramble, but he wasn't Smokin' Josh Cribbs. Which mold does Jackson fall into? Sounds like we'll have a solid running game again with Dennis and Alex, but we'll need somebody to step up a WR. I always hear great things about Jabari, but he is so inconsistent. I hope he steps up this year. I always hear how great an athlete this guy is, but never seems to dominate! I'm pumped...can't wait till Sept. 1st!

With Jackson's running ability, and a stable of great RB's, why not run an option-based offense? Why not fit the "system" to your talent? If you can't recruit the guys you need to play your "system," then change the system to match the talent you have! How about an offense like Nebraska's under Tommy Frazier? It sounds like the O-line can run block- might as well take advantage of it. We run a gimmick defense, so why not run a gimmick offense?Maybe I play too much videogame football, or something, but why wouldn't that work?ZipGrad93

I agree Jabari has been up and down. When you see the guy being guarded, one on one, by most MAC DB's it's hard to imagine how any of them can match up with his size, strength and agility. Luke was pretty adept at throwing the "short" ball to Jabari, allowing him to gain position and use his size advantage. I wonder how long it might take for whichever of the youthful QB's who wins the staring job, to be able to pick up a nuance like that.

Isn't the Option kinda a '90's fad? If it works, hell, use it. I remember how Ohio embrased the option, and they gave people FITS the first few years. Then, people figured out how to defend it and it quickly fell out of fashion. Does the O-Line look like it can run block? That would be something novel. I would love to see Akron smash it up the middle and get the yards when we need it.

I agree that it does seem as if this offense would be well suited for an option attack. Not only do we have a QB with running ability, and a deep stable of RBs, but it's also a good choice when you don't believe you have a very good offensive line. On the other hand, I wouldn't look for Brookhart to make a wholesale change in his offensive philosophy just because it fits his talent for this particular season.
