johnnyzip84 Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 It is pretty amazing how two games (MACC and Motor Ciy Bowl) make up for such a large percentage of his overall stats. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see Kris get the ball thrown in his direction quite a bit more this year. It seems like a logical focus, given the inexperience at WR. Quote
Zipmeister Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 I concur. But unless the offensive strategy changes AU can continue its tradition of unusual position names (e.g., Mike) and call its tight ends "decoys." Quote
Big Zip Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 JD coaches The University of Akron -- Lee Owens coaches Ashland -- maybe the Zipmeister was redirected to this site when he looked up Lee's name. Quote
BirdZip Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 For what it's worth, people are apparently frustrated enough about the AU references that it is on Wikipedia's site for The University of Akron...Akron UThe University of Akron is commonly incorrectly referred to as "Akron University" (or "Akron U") not only nationally, but by locals as well. The name is also commonly misspoken by not including "The" in the title. The school's official name is "The University of Akron," not simply, "University of Akron." The incorrect reference dates back to the 1960s when it was known as Akron University.Wikipedia Link Quote
Zipgrad01 Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 That drives me nuts like no other. I work with a lady and she constantly rips on Akron. She always calls it "AU" and then I correct her. Then she says "whats the difference? It is just extended high school anyway." She says her daughter took classes there when she was a senior in high school and it was "way below her level." I have to laugh because her daughter is a social worker. Not that there is anything wrong with that profession, but I find it funny that the U of A is below social worker standards academically. lol Quote
Zipsrifle Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Well, you guys have taken care of the AU reference. As for Kasparek's #'s, I agree he is under utilized. I can't remember which game it was in Detroit (NIU??), but he was carrying people downfield with him. I attribute a lot of his lack of getting the ball to the fact that Luke didn't like to throw over the middle. On 2 occasions he was wide open in the endzone, and the first time, Luke threw to someone else who was covered, and the second time, Luke threw it over his head. Hopefully, Jackson will go down the middle. I think this guy should be getting the ball a LOT more. Quote
Zipmeister Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Thanks to all my fellow AU fans for your AU comments. My point remains, we don't heave the ball to our tight ends enough. Quote
