UA Card Section

Some of you younger Zips may not believe this, but we did have a card section at one time at the Rubber Bowl!Picture below from the 1980 Tel Buch.

Is there a reason this can't be done now....other than we don't have enough students at the game to actually make UA big enough to be seen?

Yes there is a reason we can't do this now.....because SOME of the students holding each letter would argue that the message should read UofA, not AU, and so they would move to the other side of the card section (or refuse to hold up their card and spend their time telling the others that "AU" is some kind of insult). Either way, it would goof up the message.

Is anyone going to the University of Ohio State (UOS for abbreviation) game against U of A? If you are going to say it at least say it right for heavens sake. Especially, if it is your own freaking university.

I remember being in the card section for a game against Western Illinos in either 1979 or 1980. Most of us were under the influence, so I'm not too sure how well it looked on from the press box side of the bowl

Johnny...The Western Illinois game was 1979...the Acme-Zip game I do believe.I was in the press box that night and the card section looked great to me.

That's what I thought zip81, because that was my freshmen year and I was pretty sure it was the 1st home game of the year (usually Acme-Zip). Thanks for the confirmation!BTW, it was a lot of fun. I hope they revive it someday.
