Zip Watcher Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Click here for season preview.Someone else please read this and tell me this guy even watched the Zips play last year. I'm not going into specifics until all have had a chance to read it .. since I don't want to give early bias to your read.Predicted as #95 in country and #3 in conference. My guess is that UT and OU are rated higher .. though I'm not motivated to really figure that out. Quote
AwesomeDude Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 "Bardo redshirted last year and should have developed that strength to battle under the basket. Bardo can step outside and hit the mid-range jumper and his year in the program is expected to have him ready to make a contribution."Glad to hear that someone outside of the akron area thinks highly of my home skillet bardo. blueandgold Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 There is no way we should be ranked below #70 in the country. This guy seems to be pretty clueless. Even though Travis and Joyce were great, I don't feel like we are losing much overall with the talent we still have plus the excellent recruits coming in. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 So what? Every year UA is ranked in the middle third of the rankings, and by the end we move up somewhere around 60-70 spots. Its because we're in the MAC. After last year, I don't care about RPI, SOS, rankings, or any of that crap. They mean nothing. The Zips just need to win their games. It's that simple and it's been that simple all along. No complex formulas and "who on our schedule has beat who" crap. Just win the ****ing games! Quote
skip-zip Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 I'll weigh in.....Obviously, people will think that we might fall off a bit after losing our floor general, and a MAC POY on the interior. And there's a valid reason to think that way.On the other hand, those outside of our area might not have a grasp of the experience that guys like Nick Dials, Jeremiah Wood, Cedrick, and Linhart can bring. Thirdly, nobody knows what our new recruits will be able to dish out in their first year. I will tell you this much. We totally overwhelmed OU in February. And, you'd be hard pressed to convince me that they've stepped ahead of us.One more point. These national prognosticators make their judgements based on what they see on rosters. They've probably never seen a MAC game in their entire career. Quote
RACER Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 i think it all comes down to our pg play.not that ced or dials cannot play some pg we really don't have true pg.if one of kd's recruits can give us some decent play there we should be on top of the mac again.we lost romeo but adding two 6-9 guys should help at least if nothing esle to give us some front line depth.not to many mac teams have one let alone two decent big men. hoopla Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Has anyone seen the returning players for the '07-'08 season? sometimes it is evident on how hard they have been working in the offseason by seeing a body-type change. Now that Dru and Romeo are gone, will we have a more uptempo style of play? Quote
nbs95 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 It will be interesting to see who will get more playtime Bardo or Swiech, Both are big boysand will at depth to the center position. I guest it will de determine which man wants it more. I would hate to see Swiech red shirt, thank would be upsetting.By the way, if this guy but Akron at 3 who did he predict to be number 1 in the MAC?? Quote
Zip Watcher Posted August 21, 2007 Author Report Posted August 21, 2007 Well the same guy puts CMU at #2 based on 2 transfers and a couple of freshman to go w/ Watson.Thinking about Bardo / Swiech .. I think these guys are going to split the minutes at the 5 pretty evenly, with some of them going to C. McKnight .. this opens Wood up to be the 4, with Quade & McKnight filling in at all 3 front court spots .. Then with Linhart / CMcKnight / BMcKnight / Conyers .. you have a stable of 3's .. some of which can swing down to play the 2.Depth abounds here .. lots of guys to fight for minutes .. the PG spot is the real unknown. ziptrumpet87 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 as long as someone steps up to take away the double/triple-team option on Wood, the low post should be very good. more consistant outside shooting also should take away some of the low pressure. Quote
