Still-a-zip
999-1 that is the chances to win when you are plus 5 in the turnover margin! Except when your Akron, you're 0-1! The offense is terrible. Absolutely no deep threat. Put B. Williams in at slot like B. Payne was when he got beat out by B. Hendry. Put C. Jackson in at WR like N. Sparks when he got beat out by C. Frye. Two of the best athletes aren't even on the field. We can see why Jacquemain won the job. Strecth the field. Even if you don't complete it, the defense has to respect it. In turn, will open up the run game. The defense played great, obviously. But with that offense we will struggle with Temple and Buffalo. I am not questioning the coaching b/c we are not there day in and day out. They know what is best for the team before any of us can comment on it by watching 2 games. But being a former player and a multiple year starter things need to change. Some of the predictions of 4-8 might be realistic!
Cicero
In fairness, the Bucks defense was playing out of their minds today. As much as the offenses struggled both defenses were a treat to watch today.
RowdyZip
You really think that? The way I see it is if we can shut down the #12 team in the nation for 2 quarters +, i see us beating indiana and uconn and having a damn good year in the MAC. GO ZIPS! If we can compete with OSU, we can beat Indiana and UConnWe should learn a lot from this game and it should make this team better. However, Brookhart need sto work on his offense quite a bit.Great defensive showing today. You never know what might have happened if Akron had the depth to keep guys fresh. Still-a-zip
Don't get me wrong I'll give OSU all the credit in the world, defensively. Both offenses were pathetic. One more so than the other. Drastically. If you can not score any points off 5 TO's what else can the defense do for you other than score themselves. It is just pathetic. You can not win many games when your defense produces FIVE turnovers, FIVE turnovers and your offense can't capitalize on ONE of them! Especially when the offense has like 75 yards or whatever they finished with. It's pathetic when your MVP is John Stec, your freakin punter, for Christ sake! No disrespect to John, he did a phenominal job!
Still-a-zip
You can shut down the number one team in the nation or the 119th team in the nation, if you can't score it is still 0-0! We all know our kicking game sucks, so that is also a disadvantage to us! You need somewhat of an offense! I am sorry, I love Akron. I am just being a realist and a critic of the game. I hope they prove me wrong. The only way they can prove me wrong is if there are some changes or a young guy steps up at WR. By the way Buffalo is up 34-6! Quickzips
We are REALLY missing Harvey and Lindsey. We've got no deep threat to open up the defense. OSU was stacking the line of scrimmage all game long and daring us to throw over the top of them. Problem is we don't have a WR to do it with. Jabari presents mismatch problems w/ his size, but he's not a speed guy. This is going to be a problem all season long for us.
ZippyRulz
Pathetic is when you lose 77-3 and are terrible on both sides. Our defense will keep us in every remaining game, create turnovers and score some points. We held #12 Tosu to 6 points until they wore us down. We have a punter (who knew?). The offense will mature and get better. We are in a good position to challenge for the MAC East. But we will need to make some field goals to win low-scoring defensive games, starting next week. If we can't throw over top of a defense then we need to figure out some kind of deep curl routes or intentional underthrows (the tall athletic Arthur can outjump small DB's) to open it up. I don't see us losing 7 more games on our schedule.
74ZIP
there is a statue in the ZIPS backfield that looks a lot like Jacquemain...there is someone on the Zips sideline masquerading as an O-coordinator...what a gd shame to waste a real good DEFENSE with a pathetic bunch of coaches and players on the O side...you have a chance to take OSU and you can't do any better tahn that on the O side??? i don't care who you are playing...as coaches you can't let an opportunity like this to get away...get freakin' CJ in at QB...we need some mobility back there!! zipsbandman
Offense is horrendous. You can't beat Indiana if you can't score points? Why are we so bad on that side of the ball?? Brookhart is an offensive guy. Even with Getsy and Harvey and Lindsey last year our offense was marginal at best. Now we can't even get a flippin first down. I would have felt better about this game if we would have put some drives together.
Valpo Zip
I hate to burst your bubble and be negative... but saying that we competed with OSU today is ridiculous. We got like 2 first downs the whole game.We were able to stop the buckeyes (which is good and impressive) but we didn't compete with them. The rest of the MAC are doing good too... so we better not feel relaxed and comfortable that we will do good in the MAC. We lost a game, JD and the boys should be preparing for next game starting tomorrow.

Quickzips
what's with the love affair with CJ - he was worse than Jacq. Were you watching the same game I was???Jacquemain was off target all game, was a statue in the pocket and was horrible managing the game clock.CJ was at least on target when he got some time, got out of a few bad scenarios created by the offensive line and overall did a better job of managing the game clock. We need athletes on the field on offense. CJ is an athlete, Chris is an arm. Bottom line. I hate to point to Can't as an example, but look what happened to them last year after they got that statue of a JUCO kid out of there and put in the midget who could run. AZipsCrazy
No offense but strictly on production Jacquemain produced 2 first downs and Jackson produced one... anyone that says Jackson should be starting is smoking crack. Especially after that shitty screen pass that ended in a turnover and he isn't even mobile like everyone is saying he didn't run for shit! Especially after that shitty screen pass that ended in a turnover and he isn't even mobile like everyone is saying he didn't run for shit!Bottom line is that they both sucked and so did the rest of the offense. I feel bad for the guys who busted their tails on defense. They deserved much much better than that pathetic showing. I agree.....20-2 is not competing. I needed to see more from the offense to convince me that this team might be good this year.
Big Zip
Is it the offensive players or the offensive play caller -- Moorehead hasn't impressed me one bit -- this look look offense is garbage. I agree with one of the previous posters who said the athletes have to be on the field and if Jackson is such an amazing runner as some of you would have me believe replace Kennedy with him. I'm not sure Kennedy deserves to start at the half back position -- I'm not sure he's a half back as another poster suggested. Very sorry for the defense -- I hope JD lets them watch while the offensive runs wind sprints for an hour for the garbage they brought to Columbus today. This is how the better teams in the MAC win -- they win games like this. Can't actually has a chance to beat them -- lord knows their offense is much better than ours. I'm not going to be surprised to lose to them again this year and that will be a shame. Sad thing about today's game is if we had YSU's offense we may have won this game. They tripled our offensive output.
RACER
i agree with 74 zip.when you punt 14 times in a row you got our butt kicked.our offense was pathetic.i blame the offense problems on the coaching staff.the defense busted there butts, and we could not even get a first down.what was the purpose of running the dive play on first down every time.the only two plays on offense were the dive, and the pass in the flat.we never threw over the middle to te,or wr.for three quarters we could not run the ball yet jd was still running the dive play in the fourth qrt.at some point you have to take chances and throw the ball down field.i realize osu had a great defense but if you run the same play 20 times a game it's not hard to figure out.the offenese needs to get better and along with the offensive play calling. Zippysgotagun
Sad thing about today's game is if we had YSU's offense we may have won this game. They tripled our offensive output. Technically, they beat our offense by infinity (is that the proper use of "infinity"?), seeing as how our D actually scored the points...depressing, no?
