ZachTheZip Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 Heard on the radio that they don't expect him to play again for the rest of the season, if ever. Quote
wadscarman Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 I talked to one of the players after the game and he told me ACL Quote
Sergeant Zip Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 Heard on the radio that they don't expect him to play again for the rest of the season, if ever. Did you hear Dunn's interview with Flemming? He was all choked up when asked about the injury. His voice was cracking and everything. It just shows how much Jon means to this team. Never said what the injury was but the way he talked it will be the end of his playing career at Akron. Quote
Buckzip Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 That sucks. Mackey was the leader of the defense. He will be missed. I hope he has a fast recovery. Quote
akronad Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 I spoke with mom & dad at half-time and they informed me that john was done and it was the ACL. Too bad. Not only is a fantasticplayer on this team, but he truly is a fine young man. Quote
timmyboy Posted September 23, 2007 Author Report Posted September 23, 2007 thank everyone. i was able to get ahold of john himself last night and he informed me that he pretty much tore everything. he didnt go into specifics of what everything is but did say he was done for the year, but hopefully he is able to rehab and come back in time to try out for a team at the next level. Zipgrad01 Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 That sucks. He was the glue that held that defense together. I am sure someone will step up and knowing Mackey, he will still be a vocal leader on the sidelines and in the locker room. Hope he has a speedy recovery. Quote
RACER Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 any chance of a medical redshirt.could he even aply to the ncaa for one?i know the naa does not grant alott of them. Quote
liljc Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 any chance of a medical redshirt.could he even aply to the ncaa for one?i know the naa does not grant alott of them.I doubt he'd want to come back for another year. He's a 5 th year senior and he'll graduate in the spring with two degrees. Remember that his shoulder is a disaster after the injury last season and now with the knee, I just don't see it happening. Who knows, maybe he'd love to come back, though. I know we'd all love it, if he could. Quote
RACER Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 if he is a redshirt senior then your probably right. to bad he used it up.i don't think the ncaa gives to many of them out anyways. Quote
Beanie 4 Heisman Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 Mackey is getting an MRI on his knee tomorrow and will know what is wrong for sure shortly after. After talking to him today he said he wants to get a medical redshirt if possible. Quote
scottditzen Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 This is terrible, he is such a good player I wish him all the luck. Quote
