Zipsrifle Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I called the UA ticket office today to get some seats for the WMU Game this Saturday. After some confusion I was told that UA has no tickets and that I need to contact WMU to get seats.WHAT?!!! YOU MEAN THAT THERE IS NOTHING BEING DONE TO GET AS MANY ZIPS FANS TO THE GAME AS POSSIBLE!?!?! NO BUS NO NOTHING!?!?! YOU AREN'T EVEN SELLING TICKETS TO THE GAME! Why is our AD so Mickey Mouse! So, since this is my first trip to Waldo.....is anyone else going and where should I sit? Quote

UA didn't sell tickets to the OSU game for the entire week leading up to it because they had to return them. I'm guessing that the same thing happened here. You need to get your tix a few weeks early. Quote
Zipsrifle Posted October 4, 2007 Author Report Posted October 4, 2007 OSU was an exception. I have ALWAYS gotten my away tickets through UA just a few days before the game and have never had problems. OSU wanted the tickets back so they could sell them......I doubt WMU is gonna sell out! Quote
goodthts Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I agree with ZipsRifle. The comment "You have to get your tix a few weeks early" is not realistic. People have things come up, family matters to attend to, etc. As a sports fan and a lover of Bell's beer, I should be able to be completely spontaneous & go grab tix on campus on Friday, then drive up to the game on Sat morn. Our athletic department for whatever reason should at least try to be more accomodating to its large and spread out fanbase. And yeah, why no bus? Why is no Zippy and cheerleader party wagon going to WMU? I just wish our school and athletic programs put a little more EM-phasis on thinking BIG and thinking like the larger program schools. You know the saying "As you think, so shall you'll BE." Well, let's think BIG Quote

The answer to your question is you will probably be able to sit just about anywhere you want. Do you think you are going to a sell out stadium or something? Why would UofA spend a nickle trying to get people to go to away games when they should be spending all of their energy getting people to go to home games? Personally I don't see our Athletic Department spending much energy on getting people to home games .... away games .... or any games. I'm beginning to believe that they don't have much energy to expend on anything. Quote
Zipsrifle Posted October 5, 2007 Author Report Posted October 5, 2007 I understand that it won't be a sellout. I understand that I can walk up to the gate and get tickets. What I don't understand is why this program doesn't do the simple little things that make a difference. Sure, I can sit anywhere in the stadium. 500 Akron fans sitting at random points throughout a 30,000 seat stadium should give people the impression that we travel well...... All I'm asking is for UA to have tickets to AKRON games where AKRON fans can sit next to each other. Am I the only person who feels that this is a game that matters and we should try to win? Quote

Am I the only person who feels that this is a game that matters and we should try to win?Akron did have tickets... probably since sometime in August. But standard practice is that any unsold tickets must be returned to the host school... usually at least a week in advance. Some of the bigger schools require them to be back even sooner.Didn't have the foresight to get them early? Call the host school ticket office and tell them you would like to sit in the visitor section. Quote
