skip-zip
Well, we've now embarked upon our most winnable road game so far this season, if you consider the oddsmakers to be accurate. We're only a 1 point underdog at Buffalo. I think this is a clear sign that we are getting some respect heading into this game.
johnnyzip84
Well, we've now embarked upon our most winnable road game so far this season, if you consider the oddsmakers to be accurate. We're only a 1 point underdog at Buffalo. I think this is a clear sign that we are getting some respect heading into this game.Yahoo had us opening as a 2 point underdog, with the spread down to 1 today. This indicates more money on the Zips when we were a 2 point dog. I think this game is basically a toss-up, so I can't argue much with the spread. The UB fans seem to think the RB James Starks, in particular, plays much better at Alumni Stadium. I think we should devise a very aggressive defensive game plan, trying to limit Starks and the short passing game, and daring Drew Willy to beat us deep. ZachTheZip
That spread seems about right. Sagarin has us at about 1.5 point underdogs. We would be slightly favored at home. Hopefully the Zips come out fired up and well rested. It will be a close, tough-fought game, but the Zips are playing for more and should win this one. If not, well, BBall season starts in less than a month.
Zipmeister
The good news is that Buffalo should return to form in a couple of years once Turner Gill leaves to become the coach at Nebraska.
Z.I.P.
The good news is that Buffalo should return to form in a couple of years once Turner Gill leaves to become the coach at Nebraska.Hey, if Turner Gill leaves, UBuff will be back to #115 or below in...well, instantly. But, if I were in Vegas, my money would be on UB -1. Sorry, but that's MHO.
johnnyzip84
This is getting a little off subject (now there's a 1st at Zipsnation ), but I think that Craig Bohl, the HC at North Dakota State, has a better chance of getting the Husker job than Gill. Bohl was a linebacker coach at Nebraska in the past, and who has done a better job than he has (taking a Div 2 team to arguably the top spot in the FCS, even though they can't play for the title this year) in the last few years? Just ask Central and Minnesota how good the Bison have become under Bohl. I do believe that Gill will be given the opportunity to interview though. ZippyRulz
Yahoo's line is now at 1 1/2 points (UB favored) today. It's good for our conference that Buffalo and Temple are doing well and raising the bar, something we are not doing. There's no point in wishing the other teams to be bad, that doesn't help our growth in the long run. We just need to do whatever it takes to get better, like build a new stadium... johnnyzip84
It's good for our conference that Buffalo and Temple are doing wellI agree 100%, and I would argue that these two institutions, along with Toledo, easily have the most in common with the U of A out of all of the schools in the MAC. Maybe one day in the distant future these four schools will form the basis of a new conference. How does the "Scrape-off-the-Rust Belt Conference" sound? Ryno aka Menace
How does the "Scrape-off-the-Rust Belt Conference" sound?I don't like that fact that they are "competitive" in the MAC! It just proves all of my friends right about how bad the MAC is, when people make statements like Buffalo and Temple are bottom feeder teams that nobody wants, the next statement to follow is they belong in the MAC where they can at least be competitive. And now look..... we are worried about whether or not we will beat a team that is 3 and 5. Remember how we all stated we didn't want Temple in the MAC because they bring nothing to the table? And now look, after being kicked out of the Big East (the same conference we wanna be in) they are competitive and could win the MAC east. Do you think the rest of the country sees the MAC as getting better? IMO that doesn't help the conference look good it hurts more than anything. And don't say they have been competitive against good teams!! I hate this statement as much as I hate the "moral victory" BS. Our entire conference has wins against the military schools and Iowa St. and each other Big deal. Now don't get me wrong I would love to see our conference do much better with UofA leading the way but......Bottom line this entire conference needs to " WIN OUT OF CONFERENCE" games to get any national respect. If that doesn't happen lets do this..make a 12 team conferencethe N.E.C. north eastern conferenceAkronCan't - to keep rivalryWestern MichiganCentral MichiganToledoMiami Western Kentucky - different market besides OHIO or MichiganBowling GreenMarshall - not having much success why not come backMemphis - basketball would do wondersNorthern IllPitt - cause they are probably next to get kicked out of B.E.teams gone - and would you miss any of them?OhioEastern MichiganBall StateBuffaloTempleawww who am I kiddin' the MAC is here to stay. I just feel like we were never really welcome in this conference or is it just me?
zip81
I just feel like we were never really welcome in this conference or is it just me?I've heard this in the past, but have never seen evidence of it and never felt that way.On the point spread...I've seen 1.5 to 1 point for UBuffOver/Under....50 to 55.GO ZIPS!!!!
