ZachTheZip Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 So football season is finally over, and we have more important things to care about, like Basketball! The Zips take on Binghamton tonight at 7PM in the JAR. Last year Akron torched them on the road 90-55. This will be an ugly blowout, but it's the season home opener and the teams injuries and jetlag from Alaska should be gone by now. Show up if you can because it should be a fun night, and a great oppurtunity to see how our roster is doing. This is a perfect game to keep toying with the roster and to see who the playmakers are. These games are essential for a team with a lot of questions, because it gives the coach some time to answer them.Predictions? The Zips might break 100. Quote

Look for a competitive game for at least the first half with the zips pushing it out somewhere in the second half...I final margin on victory in the 10-15 point range.Zips 78Bingahmton 64 Quote
ziptrumpet87 Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 Biggest challenge for the night will be shutting down their 3-pt attempts. Hope KD can get them going and keep them going. A blowout would be nice to send a message we're back again, but I'm not counting on it. Quote
RowdyZip Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 In case anyone was wondering, 71-51 Zips, final. We should've won by more. It's nice to know we can play like crap and still win. I like McNees at PG, he sees the floor well and shoots well. Defense appears to be his liability. We could be set at PG for a good bit with McNees, Roberts and Steward. Wood was nearly absent as well. I think Bardo played maybe 4 minutes. It showed in the rebounding. Zips will be hard-pressed on the boards well into the year if Bardo doesnt show something soon. Overall a C-minus for the team. Team plays well and we win by 40. I recall at one point in the second half having 3 consecutive turnovers on offense. That's just unacceptable. We play like this monday and we lose by double digits to Temple. There appeared to be about 2,500 in attendance. Not bad for a cold night and crappy competition. Hopefully our smallest crowd of the year. I'd like to see 3-4k vs Temple. Everyone bring a friend!P.S. What's with people showing up to the game in Maryland gear? Quote

RACER Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 nothing agianst linhart but he always seems to get alott of pt,and when you look on the stat sheet it will read 4 pt 3 reb 3pf.alott of are other players get less pt but score more points, rebounds, asst ect.maybe i am missing something here.he does have deccnt size but the zips have mcknight, milmum, bardo, who play alott less.maybe jd sees somthing i don't see.maybe its the so called intangables these coaches talk about.i am not saying he is a terrible player all i am saying is i think there other guys on this team that should be getting more pt than him. With Ronnie having chest pains which is really scary, I hope Roberts is able to help. Quote
pluto05 Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 i agree, they should have won by more, they didn't play their best but still managed to survive. What is with Coach KD i think he needs to give more time players such as Bardo, he is capable of alot but just needs to be given the chance to play . what will Coach KD do next year when he loses wood. he can't wait till next year to find out who his next best players are. Wood has had his fare share of showing off, time to see what the rest have. Quote

ziptrumpet87 Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 I too was hoping to see more of Bardo in the final few minutes. He seemed a bit nervous and occasionally out of place when he was in, but with the lead they had built, what would it hurt to let him learn? It also would have given the starters some additional rest for Monday's game against Temple.Since I wasn't able to attend the exhibition game against Walsh, I can't comment on my impressions of improvement. They did seem to have the early season miscommunications, but I was impresses with McNees on the offensive end of the court: lots of energy and he seems to have a good shot and pass pretty well. I was hoping CMcKnight would have progressed more in the off-season to be able to step up into Romeo's spot; early last year he seemed like he could be that guy.Not much else stood out to me, but I'm neither an ex-player or ex-coach so I'm sure there's things others saw that I didn't.
