ZippyRulz
Steve F. is calling the game live on Zips Zone and doing a great job...that guy is really versatile. No score yet 7 minutes in. 41 degrees and cloudy, it's a beautiful night for soccer
UAZipster0305
Sure beats the weather the day we hosted WVU in a second-round tournament home game a few years back. That game was played in a couple inches of snow.
ZippyRulz
Steve said Coach Porter said the weather is not really a factor once the game begins. Plus they have heated benches on the sideline.

Plus they have heated benches on the sideline. So there's no "Ohio" advantage vs those warm weather boys of USF? The last cold weather games they played were as follows:UCONN 2USF 0 (Storrs, CT)Syracuse 2USF 1 (Syracuse, NY)Rutgers 3USF 1 (Piscataway, NJ)GO ZIPS! ZippyRulz
Steve started saying something about a lot of USF players are from Indianapolis area (?), then there was a shot on goal and he didn't really get a chance to elaborate. It's just now halftime, still no score. Zips had some good shots (6 total) but USF made some nice saves.UConn leads Vermont 1-0, winner of that game meets the winner of this game. It's hard to complain about not getting an at-large bid or a respectable seeding when opportunities like this one are not taken full advantage of. Dominating a team and then losing to end the season is perhaps the worst feeling in the sports world.Just like the basketball MACC last, season, I feel the worst for the seniors who have to end their careers on such an off-pitch note. Underclassman and juniors, come out next season ready to avenge this defeat!
w00t
What a heartbreaking way to finish a season... dominate the entire game from start to finish and concede a cheap goal in the second overtime. Many thanks to Pablo, Devin, Elliot, Corey, and Auggie for their time at UA. Hopefully Coach Porter inspires all the returnees to come back strong next year and hits the recruiting trail hard to attempt to replace the talent that graduates this year. UAZipster0305
http://www.collegesoccernews.com/index_files/Page18846.htmIn a game in which South Florida was outshot 17-8, the Bulls finished when it mattered most and walked out of Akron, Ohio with an upset win over the host Zips. South Florida's Yohance Marshall finished off a Simon Schoendorf free kick just 45 seconds into the second overtime for the win. Akron had the majority of offensive pressure in both the first half and overtime but couldn't get one passed the South Florida defense in the disappointing home loss. The Bulls advance to the NCAA Third Round to play the Tournaments third seed, Connectivcut. The Bulls will be looking to reverse a midseason result against the Huskies in which were beaten 2-1. GoZips88
Sounds like Connecticut may have been a tall order for Akron even had they advanced beyond USF ...Men's Soccer Tames Bulls In NCAA Third Round, 5-0STORRS, Conn. (December 2, 2007) - O'Brian White (Scarborough, Ontario) assured his place in the UConn record books by scoring three goals and leading the third-seeded University of Connecticut men's soccer team to a 5-0 win over South Florida in the NCAA Third Round Sunday afternoon at Joseph J. ZippyRulz
Looks like USF spent themselves to beat us. Their goalie had the game of his life at Akron and now you saw the big letdown. Plus the travel distances may have had an effect. I think we would have done better than 5-0 at uconn but they are ranked #3 so yeah it would have been a tall order up there. We just need to keep coming back strong and pounding on the door.
