Valpo Zip
Did you guys see that (our future opponent) Dayton beated #11 Louisville tonight? they play #9 pitt a couple of days before our game with them. They are 7-1 now and there is a chance they will be a top 25 team by the time we play them. How about Can't beating George Mason by 18? Afterall, if those teams (together with winthrop, and portland state) keep doing good, may be our schedule won't be that weak. Can we beat Dayton though? p.s: who's planning to go downsouth to Dayton the second day of the year? Wally B
Personally i never viewed our ooc schedule as weak. Especially when compared to other MACeast teams. Most opinions on early season rankings are like a**holes.....everybody has one Naysayers will condemn our schedule because for being easy. Yet these same people will highlight a team, once thought a patsy on their schedule, when the season proves them to be a quality opponent, and still claim others that have faltered. I believe Dayton will prove to be a real test of our mettle, and Winthrop will look like the one that got away
jeaglet1
Portland St. may be #78 right now in the RPI, but they only have 1 more game against a team ranked higher than 119 and their remaining opponents average rank is 204. Unless they run the table, theres no where to go but down. Obviously winning at Dayton would be great, but it's always a tough place to play, even when they arent playing as well as they are right now. Id say Zips fans should be rooting for Temple, they seem to have a good chance to improve. The Zips SOS is currently 314 out of 341, including 3 games against teams ranked in the 300's (SC Upstate, Binghamton, and NC-Central). Outside of Dayton, no remaining OOC game will significantly change that. Any schedule ranked sub-200 I would call weak. Id say the schedule is better than BG, on par with Buffalo, and well behind Ohio, K.e.n.t., and Miami. I just don't see how this schedule is preparing the team for the MAC...But hey thats jusy my a**hole.. er... opinion, what do i know... skip-zip
jeaglet1....you're right on the money. When we're hoping for someone like Portland State to keep winning in order to make us look good, we're hurting. Our OOC is doing absolutely nothing for us. Even with Dayton sneaking up as a formidable opponent, the overall OOC is getting us no notice nationally. So, when you have an OOC like we have, you have to WIN!!!!! We missed that opportunity with Winthrop. We have another chance to get a somewhat respectable OOC result by beating Dayton, but that is a long shot.Let's hope for the best.
