Guest Guest Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Mel Kiper Jr. rating Charlie Frye as the top quarterback in the NFL draft will have infinitely more impact on a bowl selection committee than player and coach of the year in a mid major conference combined. Quote
Dr Z Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Just wondering if it might help our bowl chances at all that Brookhart was COY and Charlie POY for the conference? A COY, no, I have never turned on a bowl game and said, "man I want to see if John Copper can do it" But I have watched many bowl games to check out an individual that I thought might be drafted by my favorite NFL team. Charlie back on Mel's board. He was off for a while. Top QB taken ? #5 is #20 as of 12-01-04 Quote
Guest Guest Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Yep, #5 is #20 overall and first QB on Mel's Big Board. Also, as of 11/24, he's #1 on Kiper's top five draft-eligible QB prospects ahead of Jason Campbell (Auburn), Dan Orlovsky (Connecticut), Kyle Orton (Purdue) and Andrew Walter (Arizona State). Since all the other top QB prospects will be playing in bowl games, it's really important that #5 get one more chance to impress the pro scouts. A great bowl performance might convince all the right people that Mel Kiper Jr. has it right. Quote
