Z.I.P.
Have heard rumors of some seriously talented players being added next year, but haven't seen a definitive list yet anywhere.Does that answer your question? Whatever you do, don't count on the University of Akron Sports Information Department (Gozips.com in particular) for University of Akron sports information. You won't get more information anywhere, than right here on the Zipsnation. P.S.: If you want to see the best player in Ohio next season, join me and the Zips in Albuquerque in Sept.
HOLLYWOODZIPPY
Have heard rumors of some seriously talented players being added next year, but haven't seen a definitive list yet anywhere.Until they sign the NLI they aren't allowed to announce who their recruits are. So you won't see a list until after the signing period. And I think GoZips does a pretty good job announcing the new signees.
FORE!zips
Soccer's signing period started Feb 6th, but it doesn't end until August 1st. There's probably a good reason why they are waiting to release their signees.
w00t
Ah, so check back in four months then? And yes, ZIP, it is a bummer that Green is going to NM. Take heart though, the local gem from the class of '09 is staying put.
FORE!zips
Ah, so check back in four months then? Haha...funny!Like I said...I'm sure there is a reason why they are waiting to post their new signees. The timing probably hasn't been the best either with basketball winding down and softball and baseball's news releases picking up. Then you have the events surrounding the groundbreaking and the Spring Festival this weekend. Not to mention another signing period begins next week. GoZips.com probably spreads out the press releases to make sure each announcement gets time on the front page. The soccer announcement is going to be big news, so they probably just want to time it right.

Since soccer is so big around here, it would be a shame for their announcement to get bumped out quickly. Not to mention since their signing period is so long they may be waiting until everyone signs to announce the entire class at once, and maybe they haven't gotten everyone signed yet. OldZipper
From what I understand, most of this class does not involve NLI signees but "preferred walk-ons" so to speak. For those who do not sign an NLI, you cannot announce them until they have received a letter of admittance from the school and have made some sort of monetary commitment to attend (i.e. tuition deposit, room and board deposit, etc.)UA has been notoriously slow on getting those things handled, and rather than announce one recruit here and one there most coaches prefer to save them all for one big announcement. Hence, the delay.

gozips19
soccer is a little different than football or basketball when it come to scholarships. like baseball, softball, and tennis some scholarships are split between players. I knew some players that were on 1/4 scholarships. As for the pwo's? I can't speak for the the soccer team but most teams will use this to entice a recruit to come with the understanding of a scholly the following year. Hope that shed some light on your question. w00t
Just caught some more wind this weekend of a couple 2008 incoming freshmen that I wasn't previously aware of... one local, one from out of state. When the official list is published, I think that our soccer fans will be duly impressed.Porter is really building something special here. Blue & Gold
Is there a website that ranks prep soccer players similar to what Rivals and Scouts does for high school football and basketball players? I'm almost completely ignorant when it comes to soccer but would like to educate myself - especially since it appears that we are now a national power!
