More on Akron's Medical Future

Recommended Posts

Here's another article from today's ABJ concerning the new Akron Bio-medical/Education & Research Corridor.http://www.ohio.com/news/top_stories/18825064.htmlP.s. Have you noticed all the news regarding UA's & downtown Akron's development as opposed to constant non-event that is Can't State?! Can't State seems to be going nowhere! The only time you hear ANYTHING out of Can't State is when they perpetually remind everyone that a few hippies were shot there about 30 years ago. PATHETIC! Here's yet another story from today's ABJ concerning the shootings @ Can't State during the 70's.http://www.ohio.com/news/top_stories/18825164.htmlPATHETIC!!! There is virtually no positive momentum at Can't.Go Akron! Go UA! Go Zips! The future belongs to us!

I think that the partnership possibilities for Akron are great, but I don't know why you have to try to drag K.E.N.T through the mud when you post something exciting about your school? It's important to understand that May 4th is a historical day in our country's history, whether you agree with the actions of the protestors or not.As for K.E.N.T not having an positive momentum, I think thats an unfair assessment. Recently in the news was K.E.N.T State establishing a landmark partnership with a Turkish University in which they will be leasing buildings on campus for 2.5 million to make one of the first Turkish cultural centers. Also K.E.N.T State is in the process of establishing an office in China. K.E.N.T is doing great things like Akron, just keep your eyes open. Have a great day!

It would be a fantastic if Akron and Can't worked together to develop a global outreach strategy-- having a presence in China and India is a great idea, but they should do it together. That would be an excellent first step in thinking regionally, attracting talent and investment to NEO, and ultimately avoiding a state mandated drive to merge with CSU. UA/Can't State should have commercialization offices in Japan, S. Korea, China, and in Silicon Valley, to direct research in polymers and liquid crystal tech to a UA-Can't State consortium. Working together will have far more impact than either alone. I'd love to see a joint UA/Can't State alum association out here-- I was out for a run here in Sherman Oaks and someone in a Can't shirt jogged by me which got me thinking about it. Together there would enough to program a fun group.

That would be good, as much as I was raised to hate Akron lol, I think if we collaborated more, we'd give schools like OSU a run for their money.Alumni idea is good too.

Our family started that "Alumni Association" a couple of years ago. I have two daughters, one that graduated from Akron and one that graduated from Can't State. At Football games we sit on the Zips side one half and the flushes side the next half. At basketball games the grandkids dress according to the school of their mother's choice. I, being a graduate of the U. of A., I have appointed myself the "impartial arbitrator" of all disputes.

That actually sounds like a fun idea! We could have some huge parties before football & basketball games! I'm not a militant fan - I've got a handful of friends who are present and former Can't State students and we always have fun at the games. It's fun talking smack, putting a little something on the game, and then still being friends afterwards. Last year I got 3 steak dinners out of the Akron-Can't b-ball games! This year? Uh, not so much.
