  1. The passes that have given Jerome the most difficulty seem to be the ones with high velocity that are thrown into his body. The balls that are thrown above him he actually snags with considerable skill and reasonable consistency. This is why I hope they start to throw more of the “jump ball” type of plays to him in the red zone, as opposed to trying Pratt almost exclusively in these situations.

  2. We have a lot of talent coming, up, too. Brock Boxen is playing solidly and Brian Bell is going to be the real deal. Gilbert and Hauser have looked good and I saw John Rachal hit a guy so hard it knocked the ball loose after a catch last year on his first down of the season. It was one of the hardest hits I have seen from the Zips. I would think it would be hard to switch him back after the early success we have had with him at WR. Excitement was a missing component from the Zips offense and he has helped bring it. I know this is a Jerome Lane thread, but it would be remiss to mention that Imani Davis has really stepped up his game, too. He is consistently making solid catches and been outstanding after the catch. Really nice to see a piece of the puzzle that has been frustrating finally come together.

  3. I am very encouraged by Lane's performance so far. He has played great for being thrown into an unfamiliar position. It took big balls to switch Jerome to offense because I think he had a pretty high ceiling on defense also. Kudos to the staff for having the cojones.

  4. BG's defense isn't any better than EMU's. The stats are just flipped between pass and run defense. Akron's front seven needs to get to Matt Johnson and make him miserable.

  5. Who's up for a Zips Nation bet (think Cheers - style poster board) for how tall Mario Collins will be the next time he stops by? I've got 6-2.
