  1. We expected a good game and got more than we bargained for. You outplayed us in every aspect of the game and delivered a beat down. Best of luck the rest of the way. You showed us today how much work we have to do to survive the rest of our schedule. I can't speak for other Herd fans but you got my respect.
  2. LZip asked "Also, does anyone know anything at all about Marshall?" You can see the Marshall 2016 online previews at: www.sbnation.com/...football/.../marshall-football-2016-preview-schedule-r... OR athlonsports.com/...football/top.../marshall-thundering-herd-2016-preview-and-predic... OR collegefootballnews.com/2016/marshall-thundering-herd-football-preview All three are similar and will give you a taste of where we are this year. Lot of young and inexperienced players in some key positions who will have to step up early. Many talented returning players at some key positions i.e., Chase Litton, QB, going into his sophomore year. Made huge impact as a Freshman. We have no idea how we will really do until we play you guys. We beat up one of the poorest FCS teams we have ever faced and no way to judge how this team will be. On the other hand we know you just played Wisconsin so no comparison. We expect a very good, competitive, game from Akron. For those of you travelling south to Huntington drive safely and hope your experience at Joan C. Edwards Stadium and our fans is a positive one. Good luck to your team.
  3. Glad to see Akron arranged a series with UAB. Sadly both games should be played at Akron. I say this as a Marshall fan who has been to Legion Field a couple of times when the Herd played at UAB. Hopefully when you travel down to Birmingham they will have cleaned up that relic. Believe me when I - or anyone from Alabama, the only two schools who get the money is Alabama and Auburn. Even Troy is better off for a football facility than UAB. Still, it's a nice trip south.
  4. Guys we are not sure about that line either and most realistic Herd fans know that Akron is a much better team than Morgan State. We (Marshall) do not need th be playing teams like that in this day and age. Next year we open with Miami (OH) and know we will have a better opponent. I hope many Akron fans are coming to Huntington. Anyone know if your band is coming? Long range weather still calling for temps in low 80s and thunderstorms. Should be a very competitive game both ways.
  5. Hey guys many of us at Marshall do not disagree about the MAC. Just look at our past few years with former MAC opponents. Ohio has owned us and Kent State took us down to the wire in overtime last year. CUSA has weakened itself with the addition of teams they probably should not have taken. As for Morgan State - we should not even be playing teams like that. The past three years home openers have been against Gardner-Webb, Norfolk State, and Morgan State. Winning a game 62-0 proved nothing for us but game experience for a lot of players we will need down the road. We expect a very good game Saturday against Akron. We are not the team you last played as most of those guys (Cato and Devin Johnson) are gone. It is a four hour drive down I-77. Come early - noon kickoff! Weather for now looks like upper 80s and chances of thunderstorms.
  6. Herd fan here wondering if any Zips fans are making the trek down to Huntington on Saturday, September 17? Noon kickoff (does not make us really happy either). Long range forecast calls for temps in the upper 80s and thunderstorms. If you are driving come early. Parking around/near Edwards Stadium for visitors is a nightmare. Travel safe. Hope to see you at the game.
