I doubted Enrique would ever play meaningful minutes when he walked on even though, IIRC, @NWAkron thought he looked very good in some Akron-Canton summer rec league highlight video. 🤭  I was wrong. He was right.

Now I'm doubting Enrique in The League.  I'm just not confident his game will translate well to the modern NBA. If he could have played in the 80's-90's he'd fit right in.  Now... I don't know. Anymore at 6'7" he'd better be able to handle the ball better than most 90's guards & launch from further downtown than anything the 90's would've imagined as being a good shot.

    Idk. I hope I'm wrong again! 🤞🤞🤞

He's the best Zip I've ever seen.

Watching the 2 g league camp games, he definitely looks like he's trying to translate his game more into nba form... I feel he dribbled the ball around a lot more and shot some more 3s... he definitely was around the arc more than in the paint even though he still was able to work his way in there. Overall I think he is trying to get his game changed around to fit a little better so we'll see!

  2. Commentators speaking vary highly of Enrique during the game saying he can be a great bench role player in the NBA, continuing on about his story... on top of an interview of the coach of his combine team saying he is the one that has stuck out the most to him.

My takeaways (and I’ll add that in my opinion it’s hard to take much from this with so many players rotating in and out):

-seems like starting OL was James, Lyons, Williams, Davis, and Blanchard. Did not notice Shor in, but may have missed it. Same with Seymore.

    - like others have said, Finley seems like he’ll be the starter. Didn’t see anything in terms of bad decisions, and seemed to throw a good, accurate ball. Doesn’t look like Bullock has improved a whole lot.

    - I see Simmons and Kellom getting bulk of the carries with Williams a more distant #3.

-saw some young guys looking like they’re more ready to contribute this year. James as mentioned, also Catrell White and Jean Louis look like they can play. Laing-Taylor had a nice int as others have said and I thought he had a nice hit on Paul Davis as well.

    - players I noticed not dressed included Phaizon Wilson, Alex Adams, Jarvis Rush, Iesa Jarmon, Kabbash Richards

looking forward to reading other takeaways.

Shor had a brace on his knee and Seymore had a boot on his foot both were out

I was in the third row of the student section and in the front row some rowdies were making fun of his jump shot and acting shocked when he’d make a free throw. It’s not a huge deal, not like there were any chants or anything but I don’t appreciate seeing it.

The funny thing about them acting shocked when he makes a foul shot is he is our best foul shooter on the team so far if you put into factor in how many he has shot and made compared to everyone else.

Alex Adams was I full uniform but I don’t think he ever saw the field. He’s the guy I really felt would dominate this season and he’s been almost invisible.

In the first half I noticed a knee brace and a limp, he must be dealing with a injury... possibly all year could be the cause of his low productivity

  6. And to add on Kentucky struggled at home last week against their FCS team Eastern Kentucky who was beat by 50 against Cincinnati the week before.... If that Kentucky team shows up and the zips show life of offense there is a outside chance a slight one but a chance.

The 2023 edition of The Basketball Tournament is underway, and as best as I can tell, only one former Zip is taking part.  Remember B.J. Gladden?  Of all people. Started 9 games for the 14/15 Zips before transferring to Georgia Southern.  He's on the team JUCOPRODUCTS, #7-seed in the Wichita region and taking on the #2-seed, Heartfire.  It'll be on ESPN+ at noon ET tomorrow, hopefully we will have better luck than we did waiting for XC to enter summer league games for the Clippers.

Too bad Mid American Unity doesn't have a team this year, Nick Harney and Tree played for them last year along with other former MAC players... same for the Mental Tougness team, they had Aaron Jackson, Quincy Diggs, and Isaiah big dog Johnson Missing out on a lot of zips this year

Yeah, I watched it hoping to see him get some minutes. Planning on doing the same tonight. If he doesn't get any minutes again tonight, I might start disliking the Clippers again for cutting into my sleep for nothing.

Welp no castaneda again and more lost sleep for all of us that watched😔

To circle back on this, confirmed for July 19th and 20th with the interviews taking place on 20th.

I always enjoy watching these. I assume DJ Irons will attend, not sure what other players.

    GO ZIPS!!

It is Daniel George and KJ Martin this year

Thanks. Didn’t know that was official. Seems I recall seeing him for a visit, but nothing else. Looks like he has a picture of himself in a Zips uniform now, so assuming it’s official.

I've also seen him in a few photos posted by the zips or one of their media people can't remember which one but I know I've seen him in some of the summer practices.
