  1. I dont know......after what Ive seen the last three weeks from UB, Im questioning if theyre even motivated to do anything, other than to get their names into the Transfer Portal. Also, Im 100% positive that the MAC is more motivated to have UB win (to fill the bowl slot) than UB is. Hence this game even being played.
  2. Hello from Buffalo.....I guess its game on. Really hoping Akron comes in and gives UB their best shot. Make UB earn their bowl invite, because for the last three weeks, they havent been. And Im hoping the MAC doesnt go and do MAC things with their officiating. Anybody on here making the trip up????
  3. Good luck today…….I guess we’ll see you Friday……
  4. Okay......I must have misunderstood by what you meant in your earlier post: Apologies...
  5. I'm curious as to why you think UB was the one that had to cancel the game. Do you think that was our call to do that? We had people shoveling the field two days in a row (plus it would have had to been done again Sunday) just to keep the field playable. From my perspective.....I think UB has plenty of opportunity to get Bowl Eligible by beating Kent this week. They also had the same opportunity against CMU two weeks ago, and blew it. If UB cant get it done, then it shouldnt require having to even play a down Akron. IMHO, UB doesnt deserve it. But under no circumstances should we be getting the blame for cancelling the game. There was plenty of opportunity for this game to be played. It could have been played Saturday as scheduled, seeing that the snow had already passed and was being dealt with prior to hearing of the cancellation, with no more snow expected until about midnight. It could have been Sunday, but in all honesty, even though it was sunny, the wind picked up and were getting 10-20MPH, with 30MPH Gusts, so it would have made for worse conditions. The alternate route to Buffalo was completely available to traffic up until Sunday midday. Akron's equipment truck was here, and turned around and went back on Thursday long before anything really got going. While the roads in the general UB area were messy Saturday morning, they were passable if anybody has ever had to drive in the winter, and completely passable by the afternoon. This wasnt our call.......
  6. Lol…..we’re kind of thinking at least we have the Bills game…. something to think about for you Browns fans, which I’m sure there’s a few on here. While your watching the game, consider this….. Orchard Park where the Bills play got as much snow as Josh Allen is tall. 77”, or 6’ 5”
  7. I hate to tell ya….they’re on their way to Detroit. Plane is in the air.
  8. So……..It’s snowy….. the band shifted North overnight, left about 6” this morning with it still snowing I left my house at 8 to head up to the stadium to help shovel. So I was in that video above somewhere. Started at 9, had roughly the entire visitor side up to midfield, done, at about 9:50 we heard they cancelled. even though it was still snowing….we could see the southern edge of the band, and beyond it was bright, meaning further towards Buffalo and south. The people south of Buffalo are getting a much needed break today while the north towns get the snow. I did confirm that the Akron Equipment truck was within half an hour of being here THURDAY before being told to turn around, not sure by who. having no reason to continue, after milling about for a few minutes, ended up leaving. By then the southern edge of the band and begun to pass over and it had stopped snowing. on the drive home, once I crossed into Niagara County, I pretty much had driven back into the snow band as it slowly crawls north today. had about 12” on the ground when I got home at 11. Been outside snow blowing and shoveling since. The snow has lightened now after I came in. we are expecting a cold front to come through this evening and give us a quick 2-4 additional. Then another snow band was supposed to set up again and move north to south, fairly quickly, before weakening and dissipating down in the southern tier tomorrow. so we tried……..about 30 people were there shoveling, and honestly, it wasn’t too bad of a task. Although I did here todays job was easier than yesterday because there wasn’t a crusty icy layer on the turf. Had the game still been on tomorrow, chances are I was volunteering to shovel before the game. I also guess the Conference confirmed that if Ohio loses to Bowling Green, and we beat Kent (which needed to happen anyway) we’ll be going to Detroit, even with cancelled game. I guess there’s still a chance the game might happen, if we need it for bowl eligibility, but I’m not gonna hold my breath. All of this becomes moot if Ohio wins anyway.
  9. Pretty much where we are too. Although we have no rivalry’s with anyone really being “newer”. Ohio maybe, but also know we’re not their big rival either. We can’t ever win there, they don’t ever win here. I personally get disgusted with the MAC as they always seem to be the “do nothing” conference and never seem to try to do anything. Your WKU/MTSU example as an example. One of the “screw” jobs we ended up with, where we got pissed at the MAC, not weather related was a few years ago, both WMU and UB were both bowl eligible, with already a full slate of Bowl teams, and the MAC decided instead of picking, leave both teams home, and gave 1 or 2 of their potential bowl game tie ins to either Conf USA or the Sun Belt that had extra bowl eligible teams that year too.
  10. LOL…..I knew of the Wagon Wheel Trophy, didn’t know the story behind it: awesome
  11. The equipment truck was here…..then went back…….because of course they did……unbelievable. Even if they have a conference call tomorrow, in the morning, the brunt of the snow that UB is supposed to get, and me afterwards at home, wouldn’t have even started. So they’re trying to make decisions without useful data. seems to me the MAC is just angling to cancel the game and this postponement makes it look “good” not that I expect you guys to care….but this will be the third time in less than 10 years that has screwed over UB. As an outsider I don’t want assume, but what your peoples impressions of the MAC Conference overall?
  12. Dont get me wrong here....I dont want to make it sound like Im (or we) are putting a football game ahead of the safety of your team....its just that the conference should have learned its lesson from the Kent fiasco before....and alot of the dangerousness could have been mitigated/planned for. I also just learned in the last hour that Akron would be busing it here. Equipment truck is one thing. The entire team and staff on buses is something else entirely. Changes the perspective on everything. It just sucks.....
  13. I wonder what time frame theyre dealing with here....our warnings I believe went into effect Wednesday Overnight and run through Sunday. The one dot closest to Niagara Falls seems to be accurate....3-4 inches - and its completely gone already. Not saying thats not the case down past Erie....just curious if thats snow fall totals from say yesterday.
  14. No...... Once youre to the NY State line......I86East - I390North - I90West. If they left today even, they could have driven around the worst of all of it. If the few inches that were possible from Cleveland up to Erie are concerning.... I76 out of Akron to Youngstown - I80 into PA - I79 North to Erie.....and catch I86 outside of Erie and continue with the above.
  15. Thanks for the reply........all spot on..... This game actually means more than just 6 wins and Bowl eligibility. Basically we're still playing for a shot at Detroit. UB needs to win these next two games and Bowling Green needs to beat Ohio (with Rourke potentially out). If we all end up tied after next week, we go to Detroit. Of course if one of these these three things dont happen....thats on us....and those Ohio bastards....we just dont want to lose the shot at it until then. Cancelling the game kills it immediately.
  16. I dont believe anybody is really saying your "scared". What were implying is, because this happened before with Kent, and because we understand the nature of these storms first hand, and because there was plenty of warning of this, the game is possible if whomever planned ahead. Believe me, if this things get all screwed up from this point, and that game could have been played on Sunday.....we're going to have more questions for the Conference than for Akron. That equipment truck should have left yesterday....and if not then.....today and still had the ability to completely drive AROUND the entire storm and not going more east than Rochester. Besides the perceived being called scared ranks right up there with us being called Canadians....neither is true.
  17. Yup.....that looks right considering that part of the South Towns has had the bulls eye on it.
  18. I may tend to believe your definition of "dumped on" may differ from mine. As of this morning, the estimates were for the area adjacent to the lake shore (Not directly in the snow band) all the way down to Erie at least was maybe 3". Thats how much snow we got here in Niagara Falls over night and its already melted. There are multiple routes out of Akron that potentially avoid that route to get to I-86 one could choose, if there was that much concern.
  19. Hello again....... I wish people would understand how these lake effect storms actually work. Just because theyre calling for 3-4 feet of snow in Buffalo, doesnt mean that all of the WNY area is going to get 3-4 feet of snow. If the band, thats only 15-20 miles wide becomes stationary over one area, then yes, that area gets dumped on. Thats whats currently happening in the Southtowns below Buffalo (where the Bills Play), so yes, references Im seeing to the Bills and their game, and practice, etc. makes sense. Its a mess in that area. Trying to get that amount of snow moved to allow for 70,000 fans, stadium staff, or even get the players there from their homes (since they mostly live in that area), would be totally different circumstances compared to the UB game. UB sits in the Northtowns. Im in Niagara Falls, 20 miles North of Buffalo, and the sun is out. We are expecting this snow band to start moving North tomorrow. BUT, when it moves and continues to move, the snow amounts from it drop. Theyre calling for 3-6inches for me here in Niagara Falls. A little bit more in Amherst. But that happens tomorrow afternoon & evening. Currently theyre expecting the snow band to weaken overnight Saturday. In fact, they were pretty much predicting that the event would be over by kickoff of the Bills game on Sunday. So yes....postponing from Saturday makes sense.....Sunday, if the field can be cleaned off....it should be alright. And as I said in my last post, even with the snow south of Buffalo.....at this time.....you could drive here in be in Sun alot of the way. EDIT: For perspective on how variable the weather is here in WNY and how mere miles makes all the difference with these lake effect storms. In 2006, Downtown Buffalo got 24inches of snow in one afternoon. My wife got standed in Buffalo overnight at the water intake plant. In Niagara Falls, we still had green grass. In fact, in my area.....we get the most amount of snow from noreasters that go up the East Coast than any Lake effect off of Lake Erie. Reason being is with the Noreasters, the wind shifts and comes from the East/NE, thus causing Lake Effect enhancement off of Lake Ontario, and the most Ive seen from them is still only maybe 20". I wish sometimes for the Jim Cantore's of the world would do a better job of explaining this to people than "OMGawd.....3feet of snow!!!!!!". Hey Jim drive 5 miles north or south and show the viewers that too.
  20. Hello from Buffalo.......Im here in peace.... Kent States Equipment truck got lost the last time this happened (2014 and we got screwed out of a Bowl game that year as a result), also with plenty of warning.... Its been a running joke this week to see if Akron's drivers could prove theyre better than Kent's....considering your rivalry and all I-86 East to I-390 North to I-90West would get them here without seeing very much snow at all......and most likely be in the sun 90% of the way.......and thats leaving today with the snow band south of Buffalo.
