Go "F" yourselves a-holes.
hard to be mad at kids for operating within the environment they are given. You want them to not take advantage of the portal and NIL opportunities? You also don't understand how many of these decisions are out of their hands, we dont know how many are told to leave.

It is a money making scheme for OHSAA. Started with COVID and OHSAA is making so much money from it they won't go back to 8 teams per region. Some schools make the playoffs because there are 16 spots and only 17 teams in the region.
And the coaches hate it. Most coaches were very vocal about it with concerns for the safety of the players. It's going to take teams forfeiting the playoffs, which is a hard thing to do. I would love to see it changed, and also to finally give open enrollment/private a separate playoff bracket.

We are friends with the Stolarski's, Avon is our rival High School. Our coaches are high on Ryan and offered him in the first five minutes he was on campus. Great kid. Holds offers from Toledo, Buffalo, Lehigh and I think OU and Miami.
Forgot Eastern Michigan too. Basically every MAC school has or will offer him.

Kent State signed Avon's QB. He was a finalist for Mr. Football. Avon won the D2 championship last night. He threw for 1 TD & ran for another. He's pretty tough but I'm not too upset we didn't go after him.
Avon also has an OL committed to Cincy.
We've been recruiting Avon junior LB Ryan Stolarski. Idk if we've offered yet but he's been on campus.

Does anyone know why they didn't honor any of the seniors this year?
The Buffalo game was Senior Night.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but who is PhotoShopping these high school recruits into UA uniforms? Is this some kind of easily accessible filter or is UA doing this as part of the recruitment process?
These are from recruiting visits, they have a photo shoot as part of the day.

Yep. Why even recruit high schoolers if they just try to leave after 1-2 years of production?
When the coach leaves for a P4 job after 2 years he can pull that now junior saying “remember I believed in you first”.

The seniors get to walk off a winner. That’s special.

Those are all for the fans and students. The players don't care anymore. I wish I was wrong.
I can tell we are on different sides of this conversation, so no need to continue it, however I can tell you from first hand knowledge, a lot of players are looking for that kind of tradition and connection. Especially those that understand that they are not going pro.

There is no more tradition in college athletics, only money.
that's a cynical view. Every away game we see loads of tradition at other schools. The way the players take the field, school chants, coordinated mascot cheers, etc. I think it seems small or insignificant but those things build a tradition and build pride.

Why? With the transfer portal, half will never graduate from Akron.
It's bigger than the individual players, it fosters a connection with the football team, the school, the band, TRADITION... maybe if these things were addressed and a sense of tradition and connection started they'd be a few less portal transfers. Regardless of all that, you are playing for the school, the football teams are typically the face of the school, show some pride.

A small thing that bothers me, I think the team needs to go to the band with the cheerleaders for the alma matter after a game win or lose.

Noah Perez started in the ECU win yesterday, went 3/3 on field goals and 3/3 on XPs in a ten point win. Got the game ball too.

2025 Portal Departures
in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Posted
Coaches abandon programs, abandon kids they've recruited, abandon the fans all the time. Now kids get the same flexibility and everyone wants to take shots at them now.
