  1. Watching Penn/ Princeton. Princeton up 2-0 58’. The Zips are head and shoulders abov both these teams.
  2. Dayton beats St Louis 3-0 St Louis moves from 35-37
  3. Dayton up 3-0. 73’. Hopefully that finishes off St Louis
  4. Dayton up 1-0 at half. St Louis playing with 10 players after a red card in the 32’. Good for the Zips if it holds.
  5. Portland beats Oregon State. Oregon State goes from 21 to 30. Zips hold solid at 34. St Louis, who has a win over Portland, goes to 35. UCSB, who also has a win over Portland goes to 38.
  6. NC State has a loss to High Point who lost their conference championship game tonight. The RPI stuff across everyone’s schedule is dizzying.
  7. UMKC scores at 89:47 to beat Denver and jumps to 25 rpi. Zips move to 35 rpi.
  8. No doubt. Just get in and go to work. And I’m with you, it’s likely the Pitt or Ohio State second round.
  9. Robert Morris beats Oakland 1-0 in Horizon Championship. No changes in RPI but is a potential proximity game for Zips.
  10. Any losses by teams above the Zips to teams with high rpi could bump them into the thirties and could muddy up those last 5-8 at large bids. I’m not an expert in this but my best guess is anyone above the Zips can just stay there and no one moves up.
  11. A couple other potential Zip helpers today: San Diego (21) over LMU (125) Oregon St (20) over Portland (88) And then Dayton, Vermont and Penn tomorrow
  12. Fair question. I looked back at the 2021 bracket and that Akron game was the only outlier to the proximity scheduling in round 1. I guess they just ran out of teams.
  13. Just to keep everyone busy…. After the top 16 seeds are chosen, the remainder of the ncaa tournament field is scheduled around proximity of opponents. Using the current projected tournament field as a guide, here’s a list of Akron’s possible first round opponents. Robert Morris 100 miles (needs win vs Oakland) Bowling Green-145 miles (needs a win vs Evansville) Michigan - 189 miles Oakland - 220 miles (needs a win vs RM) Western Mich - 284 miles IU- 352 miles This also assumes that Ohio State (126 mi) Dayton (198 mi), Pitt (111 mi), West Virginia (176 mi) and Marshall (239 mi)all are in top 16. I’m cautiously optimistic we get good news Monday afternoon.
  14. Wins by Dayton and Vermont would really help. Emil has a week to get healthy if the Zips get in which is hopefully enough.
  15. Not sure if it’s accurate but the guys on the ACC Network said that Cal has a losing record and is not eligible for the NCAA. One of their wins is against a Divison 2 team which doesn’t count and makes their record 7-8-2. That helps the Zips a tiny bit
  16. Zips drop two spots to #34 in rpi. A St Louis loss in a10 final is necessary I think to keep the Zips in the at large bid
  17. Exhausted players hanging on for all they’re worth make mistakes. Hope we get a spot on Monday
  18. Maybe it’s just the tv feed or the weather but the Zips look tired and slow to me.
  19. Prov wins in 2’ of extra time. Good for the Zips.
  20. SJU / Providence going to extra time. They said Zips kickoff approximately 30 mins after conclusion of game 1.
  21. SJU / Providence tied 1-1 in 30’ A Providence win is good for Akron to avoid SJU (rpi 73) stealing a bid if they win the tournament. Light rain. Field is holding up well so far it appears.
  22. I think an important part of the gelling was very little lost time for the top 11. Beto missed two games after a dirty late tackle vs Ohio State and that was it. Ashton missed 2 games and Hardin missed one with red cards. I think that was it.
