As a former Akron golfer I agree, the team members should be congratulated. The coach does make a difference and I can tell you that Tom's addition is a big improvement from the days of Steve Parker. He alienated a lot of us former Zip golfers and between Coach Darr and Tom these kids are reaching their potential. Great points and thanks for the backup on the need for more golf coverage. With the facilities available to this bunch they could be Akron's best chance for a NCAA title in any sport, team or individual. Firestone, the indoor center, and a great coach make Akron a tough place to turn down in recruiting.

Where is the new stadium going to be located?

Tom Porten should be getting more props from Zip fans for the job he is doing as our golf coach. He has taken over a program that has been the pits of the MAC and put them in a position to do win a third team title in a season, something never done before at Akron.Check out the golf team's page and maybe even drop Tom a note and tell him what a great job he is doing. Great hire and great team.

What do we actually bring to any conference? We do not have a winning history in either of the main sports and do not have a major media presence in our market, nor great attendance in anything. Until we dominate the MAC this is a useless discussion.

We need to play Ohio State and beat them before anyone will really care around town. This is a buckeye city.

I like BW3 - great TVs and food. Cant be beat.

The A-10 would be a solid place to be.
