  1. Didn't PSU beat Akron 81-0 back in the 90's?Sorry guys, but this game will be over by halftime. Clark is a stud QB and they will be fired up for the first game of the season.
I know you're being realistic, but would it kill you to have an ounce of optimism? It is January, after all. Or do you just really enjoy p*ssing on everyone's parade?
Did you really expect anything different from a buckeye fan?
  2. Marcel Boyce...the OVC Player of the Year in 1986 when we won the conference championship, and made our only appearance in the big dance. I'm an old man Blue and Gold...I was a senior at Akron. It was an exciting season. I'll remember it forever, and sure hope that some of you folks get to experience something like this very soon as well.
That was the year Akron outplayed scUM and still lost somehow. What a game it was.
    SNIP
Thanks for helping me out....If games were 33 minutes long, then maybe we did out play them. Unfortunately, it was a 40 minute game. Marcel B. (favorite playa) always brings back great memories and that team will always be my favorite. Boyce, Roberts, McLaughlin, Schutz, Dowdell, Holmes, etc. What a fun team!
  3. your 100% on with the teams that get the high stars do well.the fighting irish consistantly land top 5 recruiting clasess.don't forget they have been in the poulan weed eater bowl the last five years.that should be proof enough.
Thanks for the exception. Charlie Cheeseburger has lots to do with that. Why don't you go find me the last NC, or even top 20 team that was made of all 1-2*?You can probably find 1 exception there too.
Buckzip, the number of stars a player has is a reflection of who offered them, not of their athletic ability. Just look at scout's page for Akron recruiting: they made every single one of our recruits a 2-star guy today, where there used to be quite a few 1-star guys. They did that because MAC recruits are automatically 2-stars unless they have a significant amount of offers from BCS schools.
That is not entirely true. Patrick Nicely is a 3 star knocking on 4 star and he doesn't have one BCS offer. There is a reason for the most part that MAC schools have their players rated as 2 stars. For goodness sakes watch the games. Most of the MAC players are just not as talented. Like anything else, there are a few guys that fall through the ratings crack like a Domenik Hixon, James Harrison, Ben Roethlisburger, Greg Jennings, etc... All those 4 and 5 star guys that USC, Miami, Florida, Texas, OSU, Oklahoma, etc.. gets every year sure seem to make a difference, don't they? Those teams recruit the cream of the crop BASED ON ATHLETIC ABILITY. The scouting services obviously see a kid not getting offers from bigger schools and most of the time correctly grade them out at a lower star level. I have no idea why some people on here think there is a conspiracy to downgrade MAC recruits star levels. Go to Rivals and click on the Akron verbals. Half of them show Akron as their ONLY OFFER! Go to any BCS conference and click on their players. Even the 2 and 3 star guys have multiple BCS offers. These programs have been doing this for decades. They know what they are doing.
Thanks genius! Now get off this board and go find a buckeye board to get off on.
  4. NJIT Breaks Through with 61-51 Win Over BryantJheryl Wilson (26 points) leads the way as Highlanders halt losing streak NEWARK, NJ—Sophomore guard Jheryl Wilson scored 26 points, including 20 in the first half, for NJIT, as the Highlanders defeated visiting Bryant, 61-51, Wednesday night to halt a 51-game losing streak. The Highlanders, who last won on February 19, 2007 (78-74 at Longwood), never trailed by more than three points and took the lead for good when Wilson hit a jump shot to make it 12-10 for NJIT with 13:02 left in the first half of Wednesday’s game against fellow Division I Independent Bryant. In addition to Wilson’s career-best 26 points, the Highlanders got 14 points from freshman guard Isaiah Wilkerson and a double-double from junior captain Gary Garris, who notched 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. The visiting Bulldogs got 21 points from senior guard Peter Lambert, who took all of his shots from three-point distance, making 6-of-10, plus 3-for-3 on free throws. Junior Cecil Gresham was the only other double-figure scorer for Bryant, finishing with 10 points—eight from the foul line. He added seven rebounds, while junior Chris Burrell was Bryant’s top rebounder, with eight. Wilson, whose previous career scoring high was 16, which he had done three times, including twice this season, was the key player in the first half. He scored 20 points, shooting 7-for-9 from the field, including 4-for-5 on three-pointers, plus 2-for-2 at the foul line. With Wilson leading the way, the Highlanders forged a 31-15 halftime lead, as Bryant managed just six field goals in the half, shooting 6-for-23.Lambert opened the second half with a three-pointer for the visitors, but NJIT kept its lead in double figures until Bryant’s Gresham made a pair of free throws at the 5:05 mark that trimmed the Highlanders’ advantage to 46-37.Gresham made two more free throws to draw the Bulldogs to within seven, 50-43, with 2:37 left, but NJIT’s Wilkerson scored on a driving layup just nine seconds later and then hit a pair of free throws with 1:40 left to put the Highlanders back up by 11, 54-43.Lambert later made another three-pointer to get Bryant back to within seven points again, with 38 seconds left. But the Bulldogs got no closer, as Teddy Schickel hit a couple of free throws and then made a steal and passed ahead to Wilkerson, who dunked to put an exclamation point on the NJIT win.The Highlanders will visit Longwood in Farmville, VA, on Saturday in a 2 pm start.NJIT’s streak had covered parts of three seasons—the last four games of the 2006-07 season; all 29 games in 2007-08; and, the first 18 games this season.

  5. It all depends upon your perspective. In the end, Zips fans are again left with the question "Which of our losses was more impressive?"
That's an easy one! OU was far more impressive. Honestly, I was stunned that a player with over 100 games played would have 2 turnovers, a freshman-like foul and a air-ball-three-pointer down the stretch. Good grief!I also find it impressive that we have nice stretches of great defense and even better defensive rebounding and then in a flush, we can't grab a defensive rebound to save our life. We did this at BG and then again yesterday at OU.We've enjoyed four consecutive double-digit win regular seasons in the MAC over the last for years, yet couldn't finish the deal in the MAC tournament. Here's hoping that this team with a lesser record will improve down the stretch and find a way to play it's best ball and find a way to win their games on March 10th, 12th, 13th and 14th.
  6. A nice win indeed! It was even nicer to see in person. Kudos to the Zip faithful who showed up, especially to those who put together the bus trip. Our crowd made more noise down the stretch than I hear from most home crowds.Agree all the way on McClanahan..Burn that redshirt if he can score. But I hope we are committed to at least 10 minutes a game to make it worthwhile. I really liked his agressiveness on defense and on the boards. Let's see what he can do.We got 12 points from the Bardo/Cvetinovic combination last night. Now if we can get this on a consistent basis, we have a shot. Nice games from Chris and Humpty...When will Brett's shots start falling? All were nice looks...Seems to be a lesser reliance on the number of threes taken...11 v. Buffalo and 21 yesterday. Down from the 27 taken vs. St Francis.. Holding BG to 21 second half points and 5 made buckets was awesome. I did question some of the ticky tack fouls that put them at the line..luckily they missed 5 from the line to help the cause. Holding to 28% FG and no threes in the second half was crucial...Finally, I'm glad it was shown (and pointed out) about our bench's enthusiasm. Every big shot, defensive rebound, etc down the stretch, our bench did indeed jump up and support the guys on the floor. This was very cool indeed.

  7. Can you guys remember a TE at Akron that put up offensive numbers? Is it possible that the spread offense makes it hard for a TE to put up good numbers?
I remember several big plays to the TE in the MACC in '05
And unfortunately Kris Kasparek never really lived up to the promise he showed in that game, although a lot of it might go back to Dr Z's point about the spread not really emphasizing the TE position.
Good discussion on the TE position. My opinion of that position is this. It is both one of the most important positions on the field and also one of the most overrated. Never game plan to pass to the TE unless it presents itself.Every team needs a TE that can catch a pass for a first down, but that about exhausts their use as a receiver. It is more critical to have WRs that can catch passes down field for big plays and TDs than first downs.Any team that has the TE as the primary receiver is asking to lose games. The Dallas Cowboys have that very problem. They have a tremendous amount of talent and they throw to the TE too much and they don't win big games. Mark my words, getting rid of T. Owens will do nothing to solve that problem.
Where is John Clayton when you need him? Witten is the least of their problems..and there are many... Although not the primary receiver, Jay Novacek was used similiar to Witten and he won three Suoer Bowls. So, I'm not buying....
John Clayton is sniffing the butt of some general manager right now...........Are you saying that the Cowboys do not have a QB that can win big games? That is also a huge part of the problem. Some guys win, some guys don't. It is just that simple.
    Yes I am.

  9. There is one critical factor about the regular season -- to earn a first round bye for the MAC Tournament. Without a first round bye, a team would have to win 4 games on 4 consecutive days to make it to the NCAA tournament. Last year, 3 of the 4 teams that won on the first day of the MAC tournament lost the next day. Only Miami won, and they were beaten on the third day.Winning 3 games in 3 days is already a huge challenge. So the Zips really must win enough conference games not to have to play all 4 days of the tournament.
The first round of games at the Q is on Tuesday this year. The winners have off Wednesday and play the teams with the bye's on THursday. You will not have to win on four consecutive days this year to win the championship.
  10. We held Miami to 19 points in the first 20 minutes...then gave up 16 in the 5-minute OT. I wish Brett McClanahan wouldn't have redshirted. We need someone who can score B-A-D.Both McKnights need to step it up if we're going to compete in the MAC this season. I swear they have the ability...but at game's end, their stat lines fall well short what the should be. I'd hoped Roberts would have filled Ced or Dials' shoes as the guy that sticks the "dagger" 3, but Darrel has been very quiet this season. Take away Brett McKnight's performance in the second half vs. Pitt, and maybe one game from Humpty, there's really been no Zips player who's said "I'm taking this game over...try to stop me!" Everyone seems to be waiting on someone else to carry them. Maybe that's just what you get with a bunch of youngsters, but I wish someone would develop an offensive mean-streak. We're too soft - inside and outside.I like Humpty. It'll be fun watching him for four years. Having seen Jimmal Ball expolode on the scene as a freshman, then finish with only a "nice" career...I'll hold back on anointing Humpty "The Next Eric McLaughlin." At least for another year. With 2 minutes to go in OT Miami scores to stretch their lead to 8 points. Steve French *sigh* "Well, that pretty much does it for the Zips." McKnight hit a 3 to cut the lead to five about 10 seconds later. Come on Steve, an 8-point lead with 2 minutes remaining isn't such a monster obstacle to overcome.
It's interesting that you bring up the McKnight three in OT. I can honestly say it was the first time that I can ever remember where I became irate over a made bucket by a Zips player. Sure, with the pressure off and the game pretty much over (I have to agree with Frenchy here) McKnight drains the three. Where was that shot at the end of regulation? Where was that shot the first 40 minutes of regulation? Just make one more free throw or one more point blank bunny...and we WIN.I know all the hyper-sensitive Zips hoops fans will take exception, but low scoring or not, Miami's crappy style or not, we were staring down another victory, only to find a way to lose. It's never easy being a Zips fan...
  11. If anyone takes an expanded view of college football, they will see what a disaster the playoff system has been for the lower divisions of college football. A playoff has created a situation where there are really only a very small number of good teams that could actually win the championship. For the fourth straight year, Mt. Union and Wis. WW have made it to the finals of DIII. Someone please tell me how that is good for DIII and why the same thing would not happen in D-1. Nearly the same thing can be said for the other divisioins. SW Missour, Montana, App. State, Grand Valley State, etc. are the same teams that make it every year. The only reason the other divisions have a playoff is it is the only thing to get excited about for lower division college football. I would argue that it isn't even that exciting. It certainly is not exciting enough to fill the small stadiums they play the championship games in. I can't stand to watch more than 15 minutes of those games. If crowning a tournament champion is what everyone wants (remember, the NCAA BB tournament only crowns the winner of the tournament that they call National Champion. The best team throughout the year does not always win.), then regular season college football will become irrelevant as the regular season bb schedule. In college football, every game counts. The same can not be said for college basketball.I also think a lot of people who want a playoff have never gone to a really good bowl at a really good place. Last week I went to the Car Care Bowl (an average bowl and in the winter time an average place) and there were 73,000 fans at the game. The night before, the streets of Charlotte were packed with WVU and UNC fans having a great time and spending a lot of money. Win or lose, those players and fans had a great time during what is probably only one or two of the vacations they take all year. In addition, thousands of dollars were raised for local charities including various childrens hospitals and university scholarship funds. Wouldn't it be nice that if at the end of the college football career a player could to say, "I played in a couple of bowls that helped to raise tens of thousands of dollars for medical cures." With a playoff, the player would say, "We lost in the second round of the playoffs." Which of these scenarios creates a better person and fulfills the mission of the NCAA?This year, around 30 schools will go home happy because they made a bowl and won the bowl. Another half will at least be happy they made a bowl and while upset they lost the game, they may have had a really good vacation and rooted on their team. With a playoff, only one school is happy. I don't see how that is good for college football or the member universities. In addition, how much are you guys willing to pay the players who make the playoffs? The NFL pays players additionally for making the playoffs, why wouldn't the NCAA? If the purpose of the playoff is to create excitement that will sell shirts and tickets and make money, why wouldn't the players be allowed to share in the profits. I say pay the players $20,000 per scholarship player per game. A playoff exposes future NFL players to potential career injuries. How much are you guys willing to insure the players for in case they get hurt during the marathon playoff season? For those of you who want a playoff, how would you level the recruiting playing field? There would be a huge recruiting advantage that would upset the talent balance throughout the NCAA. See the other divisions to see how unbalanced they are with the same teams making the playoffs every year. I hope I have made my point about a playoff. It is really not necessary and the playoff will intrude into the greatest playoffs of all, the NFL. The real solution is what Todd Blackledge wants. All college bowl games will be over by January 1 with all BCS games being played on December 31 or January 1. At the end of those two days, two teams are picked to play a week later. That's all we need. Something as rediculous as a 24 team playoff is just stupid. There are only about 4-5 teams right now that could be considered the best. Who in the heck is ranked 24 right now that could beat Texas, OK, USC or even Florida?Lastly, if there was more money in a playoff, don't you think those greedy athletic directors around the country would have one already? Hint, there is more money in bowls than a playoff.
While I would agree that a playoff wouldn't do much positive for the the Non-BCS schools, Div 1 college football should have a playoff. Yes, the NFL does have the greatest playoffs, so why wouldn't college football copy it. While you mention that college football doesn't need a playoff, you seem to agree with Todd Blackledge's plus one version..which is a playoff.I have always been of the opinion that there should be NCAA football committee (like basketball) and pick the best 6 teams..create an NFL like set-up, teams 1 and 2 get first round byes, teams 3 and 4 host round 1 games, teams 1 and 2 host round 2 games with the championship played on a neutral site. Call it the Super Six....This type of set-up would not hurt the regular season at all. In fact, it would encouage teams to schedule better teams in the regular season because strength of schedule would mean something and I think we would see a bunch of better non-conference match-ups. (Teams with strength of schedules around the 38th, 55th or 45th ranking could almost be eliminated). While I agree that the importance of the regular season is diminished in the other divisions of football and college hoops, this is mostly because so many teams make those playoffs. Again, a 2, 4 or 6 team playoff wouldn't hurt college football and you can still have the other bowl games...although at a much smaller payout.
  12. GP1 and CK are right on the money on this one. Waters is indeed the premiere DI hoops coach in NE OH. And this is no discrespect to any of the other coaches. What he did at Can't will probably never be matched.
Sure of that? Really? I'm not. Why do you stand at the railing every game then if you don't believe it's possible? Hemorrhoids?
And now you are also bringing down Huggins in this thread. Good grief....
This is a telling quote. It tells me that you've no faith in KD. All I said was that he was on pace to blow away Huggy's win total for the first 5 years @ UA. Nothing more. Huggins did great things @ UA, no arguments here. But KD has done some things Huggins NEVER was able to do .. twice (save your replies .. I know Huggins won a title .. works both ways). So by pointing out that KD is ahead of Huggins in a few areas .. now I'm dragging Huggins down? Not so, my friend. What did KD ever do to you?
The next time I walk into the JAR and see a MAC championship banner hanging, then we can talk. Until then, there is no argument.
It's a program build. It's a PROCESS .. and we're 1/4 of the way through the 5th season .. with 100 wins and 2 postseason wins behind us. The inertia is up .. not down.My New Year's wish for everyone is a little faith & optimism. Our guys can use the support.Go Zips!
This is really much to do about nothng. I responded to the original post about a comment that Waters was the best coach in NE Ohio and I agreed. Nothing more. It like saying Phil Jackson is a better coach than Pat Riley. Does this mean that Pat Riley isn't a great coach as well? I don't think so.I have said it numerous times on this board that I love KD as a coach. Finally we have a really good coach, a UA guy who wants to be here. Let's keep him.I also stand by my response to this post however.
  13. (should be an automatic game every year; afraid of a beat-down yourself Waters?).
Be cautious of what you wish for. Waters is the best college coach in NE Ohio and he can recruit better players at CSU because of their laughable academic standards.....and when I say laughable, I mean side splitting laughter or even liquid shooting out of your nose laughter. We may want to duck them while he is there. After all, we are "building" a program here (for how long now? will we beat the completion of the bridge to China?) through beating teams we should easily beat and losing to good teams. I'm not sure how all of that works, but I read on the board we are "building" it. Now that CSU is good, we may not want to break that formula. Keep the cupcakes coming....I guess. For those of you who have season tickets, I'll say it for you...... Let's see some results from all of this "building".....this year.
Congratulations. A garbage post from one of ZN.O's top contributors.KD is every bit the coach Waters is. No one in their right mind would swap rosters with CSU right now. It is WATERS who's running scared here. KD would play every year. CSU ended this. Not UA.Building for "how long" now? This is year 5 of KD's tenure. He's won nearly 100 games (WAY ahead of the pace set by Huggins over the same period). He's won 2 postseason games .. that's more than Waters @ CSU. The Zips have been in the title game the last 2 years. Averaging 22 wins / season and improving every year.If you can't see progress here .. you're not watching the Zips .. oh I forgot .. you don't watch them. You can do better than that .. you usually do.Go Zips!
There's nothing garbage about the post...GP1 and CK are right on the money on this one. Waters is indeed the premiere DI hoops coach in NE OH. And this is no discrespect to any of the other coaches. What he did at Can't will probably never be matched. And now you are also bringing down Huggins in this thread. Good grief....The next time I walk into the JAR and see a MAC championship banner hanging, then we can talk. Until then, there is no argument.
  14. Redhawks are heavy favorites to win the East, IMHO.
If this is really true, lord help us all. There's nothing I look forward to more than sleeping through a UA v. MU game. Bring your pillow in a hotly contested 43-42 final. Yawn!!!P.S. Can we change the shot clock rule to 20 seconds when we play Miami?
  15. I want to talk about Jimmy C. for a minute....He came here with some expectations. And we've seen him inserted into the starting lineup many times, including the MAC title game two years ago when Nate had that bad eye injury. I've yet to see anything that indicates that he'll be anything other than a role player. And at times last year, he seemed to be buried at the end of the bench.But....WOW......the last couple of games he's really started to produce. Now, I can't say that if I was his coach that I would have continued to give him more chances to start in hopes that he would suddenly become a big factor, but this could end up being the defining move for KD this season. I hope it continues.Seriously....did anyone...honestly....EVER think we'd see this kind of production from Jimmy?
I agree. He had very high expectations coming in and it looks like his perseverance has paid off. He keeps getting alot of minutes and it is paying off.A few other stats were somewhat surprising on Saturday night. Humpty was 6-8 from the 3 point line. If his outside game develops with a deadly three-point shot, look out.Linhart was 3-14 from the field and 1-8 from the three-point line. Memo to Nate: Stop shooting so much.Roberts only had 12 minutes...McNees had 22.36 three-point shots seems a bit much. I wonder what the stategy will be for this team in this area. I mean, just because you are open from 3-point distance, is there a green light to shoot?
  16. WOW.....I'm doubting that KD would just give up his long journey to get back to major college coaching to take an administrative job.
First off, I hope it's a long time before this discussion becomes real. I like Mack & think he's doing great for the Zips. Not saying that at all. I'm saying there's not anyone we could find that would have a better feel & passion for UA Athletics than KD. He's been there as a player in a non-revenue generating sport, he's aware of the Academic ends and goals of the U .. and he's the head man at one of the key sports on campus. No one cares more than KD for the Zips .. and he'd be a good shepherd for the Department as a whole. Listen to his comments about the Soccer team on the radio last weekend, and you'll start to get it.The model would need to change .. instead of hiring a new AD, you promote KD to AD while he remains HC. But the AD support staff would grow to enable him to do both jobs. He'd need more "guys" than a normal AD .. but the budget would be there with minimal increase. It's not unheard of. Tressel was both HC & AD at YSU for several years. I think Perles was both AD & HC at Michigan State for a time.Just sayin .. KD would do a great job as AD.
Again, I have to strongly disagree about KD. Yes, I like what Mack is doing, but we let's face it, the first option that comes up for Mack to leave and double his salary, he will be gone. This may be next year or in three years, who knows. Then his replacement will come in and do the same.Getting a person dedicated to UA who wants to stay would be ideal. KD is just not that guy, no matter who you surround him with. I understand his ties to UA and his love for soccer, but that's probably because they are a winning, highly rated team. If we were a 0.500 club, not sure he would like soccer as much. The AD at UA has by my count six very important deciscions to make over the course of their tenure. (in no particular order)When to fire the basketball coach.Who to hire as his replacement. When to fire the football coach.Who to hire as his replacement. When to fire the soccer coach.Who to hire as his replacement.KD would not be the person to monitor this and make the right calls and would not be a great AD while being the head mens basketball coach. His only job needs to be coaching/recruiting basketball players.
  17. did I miss something? was there some announcement that JD was going to be kept?
Wondering the same thing here .. haven't really heard a vote of confidence yet.
and I will go on record saying that we're going to have Mack for a while.
And I'll go on record in saying that if / when the day comes where we're in the market for a new AD, we're total fools if KD isn't the first guy offered the gig.
I'm all for getting the right guy for the job and I would definitely support a UA guy to do it, however KD needs to coach basketball, period. No way would I want KD to do both....
  18. I am as pissed as anyone BUT I am failing to understand why the NCAA would have any bias for NW - There is no attendance bump, Akron Soccer is much more prestigious than NW, we have higher profile players and a much better soccer pedigree. I could understand if this was football and there was a 50K+ bump in attendance and increased interest but that is not the case here. I want to be pissed at someone but I am not so sure it is the NCAA................I just hope Caleb stays.
OSU and NW are in the same conference. OSU was pissed that they had to play here, and wait an extra day because of the weather (almost identical scenario to the WVU game a few years ago). OSU lobbied the Big Ten to do whatever they could to punish us for having the insolence to beat them at a high school field. Big Ten whispers into somebody's ear at the NCAA, who then changes the game site prematurely while conveniently taking off a few days for Thanksgiving. Sound far-fetched? Some people have the idea that this is what happened. I don't think that was it at all.I say this was an inside job by a guy with a grudge or an OSU fan that just happens to work in UA athletics. We were sold out on the trip to OSU at the end of the season. Somebody warned them that we were bringing busloads of fans, because that somebody severely dislikes either the fact that we have better fan support or dislikes somebody who is in charge of creating fan support. Well, we won despite that. Then it happens again - UA plays OSU, this time at home, and we make them look bad on the field and in the stands. This somebody is even angrier, and decides to screw over Akron, so he makes a call. Then the NCAA is more than happy to move the game to Chicago under the pretense of "player safety".Whoever it was that works at UA and decided that our field would be unplayable four days in advance, without consulting Mack Rhoades or Caleb Porter who were both conveniently located off campus at SVSM at the time, needs to be fired.
Thanks for saving me the time to make the same point. A complete inside job by a UA employee who was pissed his Luckeyes got beat. And my two Buckeye friends on the board wonder why I despise them. Until we have some true-blue and gold UA fans ..students, alumni and workers, it will always be an uphill climb.
  19. Good post CK.I have always found the simple solution to be the best solution. The 3-3-5 has to go. If JD is not willing to let the 3-3-5 go, then he has to go. If he agrees to bag it, then he stays. Hopefully his new defense would not be as stupid as the 3-3-5. Actually, the only thing more stupid than our defense would be a 2-1-8 defense.Fleming can install another type of defense or he can go. I don't care which. This isn't the guys first coaching job and he has coached other types of defenses. You Browns fans need to get used to the fact that JD is going to be back next year and it will probably be a good thing. How do I know that? Follow the logic:1. Browns fans are idiots.2. Everything Browns fans want blows up in their faces.3. A ton of Browns fans post on this board and are Zips fans. This means there are a lot of idiots posting on this board.4. A ton of Browns/Zips fans want the coach fired.5. Firing JD will blow up in our faces. Don't take the rest of us down with you Browns fans.Like I said, the simple solution is usually the best. JD stays unless he agrees to get rid of this silly defense he runs.
I need to respond to this as you constantly rip on the Browns' fans. While I am not a Brown's fan, your logic on why they are idots is completely wrong. But before I get to the Browns, I agree about JD. He needs to change the defense from the 3-3-5 or he should get fired. The last three years have ended terribly. Going 0-3 to end the season against two very bad teams is an embarrassment. I prefer to make a change regardless, but if he makes the necessary staff/philosophical changes I would give hime one more year. The scary thing is is that he seems to be heading toward the Faust/Owens path of about 40 wins if he stays around for 9 years.Back to the Browns. Sure there are a lot a idiotic fans. But I've watched games in Pittsburgh and in Cleveland and I find very little difference in how you all act. You just happen to root for the the team with 5 SB championships. As my kids would say, big wup. Lumping Zips fans with Browns' fan makes no sense. The Zips have several hundred thousand alumni around the country and we have somehwere between 200 and 2000 true blue fans. Again, big wup.Browns' fans in general are somewhat misguided, but I do appreciate their passion. Unfortunately, this is not entirely their fault. In fact, the mere existince of my favorite college football factory in c bus actually does more harm to Browns' fans than they would ever admit to. You see, most Browns' fans are also tosu fans, even though 99% of them have no affiliation with the school. Here is how they are misled/idiots:1. McSweatervest rolls out of bed the first week of February and signs the best 18 players in the state and 4 of the best players around the country. Conversely, Crennel/Savage spend days deciding who to choose in the first round and then get about 8 good players in the draft, IF they are lucky enough to make the right selections. Talent advantage: A-holes in cbus.2. McSweatervest and the AD scour the country to find 3 or 4 of the easiest non-conference opponents to play and play in the easist bcs conference while getting to play 7 or 8 of those games at home/neutral fields. Conversely, the Browns are told who they play and only get 50% of those games at home...and there are no Younstown State's on the Browns' schedule. Scheduling Advantage: A-holes in c-bus.3. The idots in c-bus rake in $8-10 million per football weekend when all purchases and donations for football are averaged per home contest. Conversely, the Browns have a salary cap to work within, but so do the other 31 teams. Keeping players eligible and out of jail is completely funded in c-bus. Fiscal Advantage: A-holes in c-bus.When it's all added up, it's easy to see why 10 wins in nearly guaranteed in a-hole land. It's also easy to see why it's so difficult to win in the NFL and why Browns' fan have become discouraged and then act like idiots. Have at it Buckzip and sgm.....P.S. Zips soccer - 1, A-holes in cbus - 0.
  20. I won't be either. Attending ten games in a season is more than enough.Giving up three special teams touchdowns yesterday was inexcusable. Not sure who to blame, so in this case I will place it on both the players and the coaches.Another potential 8 or 9 win season shot to hell. And I wonder why we have pathetic alumni/fan support.
